  1. Not many colleges recruiting offensive players in those systems. They want linemen who can pass protect, rb's who can catch and pass protect, and receivers who can run routes and catch. That being said, option football is winning football. Defenses dont stop that offense, qbs and OC's stop themselves in option football by wrong reads or getting away from what they do. Oakland has wing t principles in their run game but cmon that is very different from flexbone and wishbone. Oakland runs about 50 different formations a season, that is not the Delaware wing t
  2. Responsibilities vary. Most schools in our state your AD is a paper pusher. He or she shows up to games to make sure officials get paid and the dressing room is unlocked for away teams. Pay a couple thousand. Places that care about kids and sports, the AD is the head administrator of all sports, but honestly it is not like that in most public schools. Most schools the AD does not even make personnel decisions. Compliance, Gameday administrating, making sure you have ticket takers and other workers. Our schools all across the state are filled with teachers and admin who leave as soon as the dismissal bell ends. Teachers who do not coach, sponsor clubs, or even show up to support kids at school plays, games, etc. Same with a lot of AD's. It is not hard to identify which schools have good AD's and which ones do not.
  3. Always heard chants started at an Elementary School and grew to the highschool by the 50's. Good people in Overton County and alot of pride.
  4. My grandmother was born and raised in sunbright. Sold the farm there a couple years ago. Beautiful place with good people, but like the rest of rural america......well I don't need to go there. Sunbright needs someone ready to be a community leader, it cant be all football with the hire. Too small a population. They have a little history and pride there. Beautiful part of Tennessee and not too far from Oak Ridge imo. Wish those kids the best over there.
  5. That is a good point. This was never about what was best for families, kids, or sports. This is and always was about money.
  6. Vouchers will have an impact, but hopefully we keep rules in place, regardless of the transfer rule outcome, that will prevent players from switching teams in season without a change of address. The by-laws from last year (Microsoft Word - 2024-25 TSSAA Bylaws and Constitution.docx) will most likely have to be amended again to clarify vouchers as opposed to transfers. Hopefully vouchers only apply BEFORE the first practice date. Otherwise the private schools will continue eat the public schools best athletes at an even larger rate. I like that families and players are able to make decisions that are best for them, but this can't just be the wild west. Sports are keeping alot of public schools afloat so, this will all be very interesting. I know private school coaches are happy and public coaches are concerned, but what else is new?
  7. St George’s has been filled by Tyler Rice
  8. Football is and always will be a reflection on the community. Schools that win have community support for attendance, fundraising, player development, and typically are successful academically and with other sports. Places with bad football seem to always struggle with basic things. Money is always the excuse in these places but what it really is is apathy and laziness. Schools with bad football typically only succeed at one or two sports, usually basketball which requires almost no money or support and even less teamwork. High turnover on coaches but admin and central office remains the same. This in my opinion happens regardless of city or rural, 1A-6A, blah blah. If your high school is bad at football regularly and has been for decades I guarantee it is a community probably not desirable to live in at least not for highly motivated people. Also….until the community cares, those decision makers will continue making decisions that are anti-football.
  9. They do not qualify for the playoffs playing a non region schedule.
  10. A lot of wins on that schedule. 0 6A schools
  11. I think there has been a lot of grace given since 2020-2021, and that grace has ran out at alot of places. That and from what I hear, the headaches have risen and the pay hasn't and alot of coaches are burning out.
  12. Clarksville schools need to schedule games outside of Clarksville area if they want to get out of the 1st round in 6A. Memphis is a different animal they at least should be playing Williamson, summer, or Rutherford teams if they want to prepare for the playoffs. Cupcake schedules in region 7 leading to sweeps every year.
  13. Easy to point out problems. Hard to find solutions. Good luck Lewis County
  14. I think there is value to seeing difficult times through. If your son wants to stay, find out how you can be part of the solution. If he wants to leave then leave. It kind of sounds like he wants to stay, but you want to leave. No matter what, I hope the best for your boy and all involved. Football changed my life. Learned how to get through difficult and frustrating times, as well as how to show sportsmanship when I won. Class. Seems like its only about the show or money now a days. High School should be about community. Wish yall the best.
