They will be better this year, they will keep getting better each year, They might pull out a win or 2 ? maybe. The kids deserve a win, the ones that have stuck it out with all this drama really want to be there and are learning life lessons from this Coach that goes far beyond winning a football game. As far as "key" players (as posted in the paper). I dont think they were key players, they were head cases , that I would be safe to say the Coach just got sick and tired of the games. He is not out for a popularity contest ,nobody said football is easy, I think the statement is being made, and if they dont like it, move on .

They look like they have a long way to go still, I was pulling for East Hickman, but from my observations, Defensive and Offensive lines are a factor,4 foot tall safetys dont help much either, and 4 or 5 fumbles for turnovers, and completing 1 forward pass over the line of scrimmage the entire game will not get it......... the worst thing about this ,the one completed pass out of 2 attempts was to BGA that resulted in 7 BGA points. The first quarter numbers had to of been negative yardage. But on the other side of the coin BGA is a very skilled team. Hats off to East Hickman they never gave up.

Defense looked better than last year ,still need to be more intense and physical, still lots of little tiny guys as linebackers/corners. Quarterback? fumbles and interceptions wont get it, # 22 looked good , #88 has some wheels when he got loose, Offense was at negative yardage until BGA put in the JV. I hope they can pull a win this year. They looked overall better than last year. Anybody know why did all those kids quit ???????

Not many happy people in Lyles. But we are still behind our Eagles 100%.

What's not to be happy about? The team has worked hard in the off season and is showing improvement. This is a more experienced group than this time last year and it showed Friday. Offensively they looked more diverse and moved the ball fairly well against a very good BGA team. Defense needs to play a little tighter but I have faith that the coaches and players will work the kinks out. I am a realist and won't predict a playoff run yet, but I believe that the pieces are coming together and the eagles will experience a victory or two this season.

It takes time to build a program from the ground up, but I think the program is headed in the right direction. I am proud of the young men and the coaches who have made the commitment to lay the foundation.

If people are not happy in Lyles, I don't think that an up and coming football program is the reason.......

Speaking of programs, you should check out the Harpeth Indians. We have a program that is going to run circles around the region this year using the good ole veer. As for East, they did some good things last year and will do some more good things this year, but not enough to get passed my boys from KS. GO TRIBE!!!!!

They only reason you pulled the win last year was too many kids were playing both sides of the ball and we ran out of gas at the end, East had you all beat,That was almost the first win, but couldnt finish. Harpeth will be coming to East this year and be playing 93% of the same kids as last year, only thing they are older, bigger, stronger, and more experienced. They actually got to lift weights this year. This spells trouble for Harpeth, I think the JV beat Harpeth also last year. and some of those Kids have stepped up bigtime to the Varsity ranks. It will be a good game and we will be looking forward to it.

    • And can you tell me who those two quarterbacks were, and every kid that was put into college from Bearden is a Bearden kid? It’s kind of why they graduated from Bearden.   and I would definitely not consider ETSU “waste”…
    • Most of this is complete gibberish. But the one part I could decipher is putting kids in college. This coaching staff hasn’t put a single Bearden kid in college. They completed wasted one of the best WRs in East TN and have ruined two talented QBs. All because they’re in over their heads.
    • Well, I’d hope the new coaching staff thinks they are all that because they can always walk around the school, anytime they want, thinking that, especially for what they’ve done for the student athletes and the players, putting more kids in college in his first season than the old coaching staff did in numerous years combined, but we will just sweep over that because I know you don’t like facts. But trust me, nobody wanted Mr. Big britches, made the star player switch to quarterback, which is ultimately the reason he ended up transferring to play the position. He loved, but unfortunately, had to be at another school because Mr. Big Britches doesn’t like when a teenager knows more than him, but can’t expect much coming from a guy who used all class throwing pencils up into the ceiling and making fun of football kids who were failing class right to their face, and in front of numerous students, even projecting on the board most of the time.
    • After that first paragraph, I can see why you’re a TA and not a teacher. Have you made the move from South Knoxville to Bearden yet?    Maybe he left because he is an actual teacher and coach, and didn’t want to be associated with a group of foul mouthed middle school coaches who like to pretend they’re big time.
    • Yeah and the coach is gone. Whole bizarre situation here. We played them a couple of times at MTSU last few years. She was a player for sure.
