Moore Co vs Marion co & Sweetwater

This scrimmage is Tues Aug 6th. Any info on these teams? Marion co and Sweetwater are 2a teams and Moore co is 1a should be a good test for them. THANKS!!

Sweetwater should easily be the best team of the three some think they could be/is a Top 5 team in AA I am interested in what Marion looks like I just saw a poll where they are ranked 10 but I don't see how they could be that highly ranked in the preseason.

 

I hope I can get to Moore Co. next week for the Scrimmage Vs. Sequatchie Co.. The Indians take on 5A Coffee Co. this week after their defense dominated Notre Dame last friday.

Sweetwater has good size and strength on the line, and several athletes with speed at the skill positions. They looked pretty good for a first scrimmage against McMinn Co. Keep working hard wildcats! Go Blue !!!!!!!!!!-!!!!!

The scrimmage is at marion co., not sure of time, but I believe it is at 6:00pm

Rumor out of Jasper was 1st Team Sweetwater1td Marion 0.

Sweetwater scored on a trap and Marion ran out of plays inside Sweetwater's 10 yard line. Marion was all over Moore 3-1.

That really makes it sound a lot closer than it was. It was 1-0 Sweetwater over Marion, but the way they ran the scrimmage it was hard to tell how the teams really looked. They had referees but they never called any penalty. The only thing they did was Blow the whistle when there was a false start or offsides, and then they didn't mark off the penalty yardage. All they basically did was spot the ball, and keep track of plays, I really don't know why they were there? Sweetwater ran 28 plays and had 150 yards and a td, There were also 2 offsides pen. they didn't mark off, and a pass interference that stoped a long td pass( the defender held up the reciever)and another pass where the Qb over threw a reciever who was open by 20 yards. On Marions 2 posessions they had 28 plays for 65 yards, 5 false start penaltys that were not marked off and 3 interceptions. Marion Co. does look allright thou if they didn't have all the mistakes, and I was also impressed with Moore Co. I don't know if they lost 3-1 or not, but they did more the ball pretty good. I do like Marions CO. Stadium, very nice!

Was there a article in the Chatt. T Free Press this morning about the scrimmage?

 

If you like Marions Stadium you should check out the Sequatchie Co. Stadium. I don't know if you were at the last game when Sweetwater played in Dunlap early 90's but we have a brand new stadium 3 years old now on campus.

Yes I was there in the early 90s, and it was pretty ruff from what I remember. I had heard that they had a new field, and sooner or later I would like to see it!

I couldn't help but notice that Marion's team this year is much smaller than past teams. Just curious if any of the other Seq. Valley's schools have seen a decline in number of players. I thought Marion's defense looked pretty good, but the offense seem to have some problems. Hope they get those ironed out before the season starts.
