thats what i heard at work today, I heard he couldnt keep his fingers out of the qb for sghs eyes... that is dirty

but that is how i heard it today it doesnt mean it is true

i guess as we will see Friday who brings the game i hope they play and i also hope the refs let them play honest on both sides everyone knows how emotions run on the field

It's definitely true, as well as stomping people on the ground and many other cheap shots. Don't count on a fair game at GP(serious home cookin). SG couldn't even get a fair call @ home. GP's coach got a call CHANGED (1st time I've Ever saw that) by whinning about it (it changed the outcome of the game) and the reverse call was pitiful, if I was that ref I would be ashamed to show my face. GP can't handle not playing teams like NG where they can win 70-0. GP knows how they won the game against SG and so do the fans who were there and saw it. The Rebs played a great game and left it all on the field, too bad a bunch of bull & crybabies kept the REAL winners from a well deserved victory. I it hate for the team (SG) they got robbed of the win. STUPID ADULTS with their own agendas. When will grownups learn it's not about them!

You really don't want to start this game of whining and crying. Every poster from both teams has had nothing but positive things to say about everyone involved except for the refs. From what I was told there were plenty of missed calls to go around, yet I haven't heard anyone except for yourself whine about it. And please don't start bashing a 15 year old kid as playing dirty. There is not a more respected coach in east Tennessee than Coach Hammonds, and if a player were doing anything close to what you claim he would have pulled the player himself. You need to move on from the GP game and focus on Happy Valley, because if the Rebels lose they are in real danger of missing the playoffs.

well my kid informed me if this kid did do such a thing he didnt think that the coach from GP put him up to it and I myself would hate to think that a adult would put athletes up to do such all i want is both sides to play the best they can with out cheapshots and i certainly hope they arent gonna have any home cookin' because that not only cheats the players it cheats theirselves cuz ppl will remember bogus calls

and as far as i know ref Gary Compton was the white hat and i thought he always calls in favor of sghs most of the time.....

Most unbelievable referees I ever saw at a game. Never seen anyone try and help a team like zebras at South Greene. Don't cheapen the great effort of SG players who could have tanked it when they went down 14-0 super quick to GP with GP having no trouble marching right down the field and then had the guts to come back. Guy in the white hat was SG's 12th man and he was a very effective 12th man, kemosabe.

First, in response to all the officiating talk above. I agree with all that there were some major errors by the official crew, but I don't think it affected the outcome. On the interference call on GP, they came together, conferred and then made the call, moved the chains and signalled first down. Then Coach Hammonds called timeout and argued it. The refs listened, told him too bad, started the play clock. The white hat then blew the whistle, conferred with his crew again, then waived off the penalty. They took 5 minutes to figure out where the original line of scrimmage and first down markers were. It was bizarre and cost the refs their credibility with both teams. BUT, even though I'm a SG fan, they got the call right, it should not have been pass interference in the first place. Even more incredible to me, was on SG's last drive going for the win, SG was 4th and 32 and picked up about 25 yards on pass across the middle, to my bewilderment I look up and they signalled first down and 10. GP was screaming at the refs, but were ignored and SG snaps the ball and runs a play, incomplete pass. With enough time for one final play, SG threw the ball into the end zone and nearly scored, if we had it would have been an undeserved win. In my opinion, other than those two episodes the officiating was pretty fair to both sides, maybe even tilted more in SG's favor.

Second, concerning WG's chances this Friday. As a Greene County fan, I hope WG can win, but I don't think they will. I think GP's defense will be too much for WG and I don't think WG has the defense to stop Pittser and company. I hope WG proves me wrong. Good luck Buffs.

Tragedy has struck West Greene High School yet again... 2 kids, one a junior and the other a freshman I believe, were killed in a car wreck this morning. Neither were on the football team but I know from experience as well as anyone else who has been in a situation like this that when something like this happens especially in a small school, it shakes everyone up. My heart and prayers go out to the family especially, but also the school and the community. Your thoughts and prayers would be greatly appreciated as well.

Just so everyone knows the REFs. in last fridays game were the worse officials in the world.. I do admit GP did have some Pentlys but 195 Yds. worth come on and SG had wat 5 or 6 maybe less (if im wrong let me know) SG players played good very good.. I very much HATE how everyone seems to like talking crap about my family.. I dont go around talking about other people like that.. to let everyone know Billy Huskey was just so happened got punched in the back he got upset and screamed who wuldn't it doesn't feel all that great.. as for talking smack every team does it.. coach Hammonds did not tell him to hurt people trust me i played for him hes not like that.. anyone who wishes to talk to me about im here(not being mean).. but as for the game This friday im givin it to GP by 2 or 3 TDS.. GP has always been a tuff powerhouse even in 3A and now in 2A.. Sorry if i have said anything in the wrong way.. you just have too see it from my point of view.. no one else wuld like people talking bad about someone in thier family either. Good Luck to both Teams i will be there to watch the game.. Go Highlanders!!

P.S. My prayers go out to those WG Families

    • Deja vu all over again, 7 yrs apart. SMDH Does anybody talk to each other?
    • OK, well, that’s because two quarterbacks can’t start. That’s football 101. The main quarterback won the starting job, so he was on varsity, and the Seymour transfer did not win the starting job. He played some varsity. He was mainly junior varsity, and he balled out when healthy, so for the starting quarterback who’s been starting varsity since his freshman year, if you have any form of proof that he’s gotten worse, somehow, whether that means stats or whatnot, please feel free to share.
    • They’ve both gotten worse. I’ve seen enough games to know that.
    • The only two transfers that Bearden has gotten that went on to play college football were a defensive back from Karnes, who transferred here way before the new coaching staff got here, and a running back from Carter, who went on to play at Maryville College. Both players received those offers while at Bearden, and both players got a diploma from Bearden High School. Therefore, they are Bearden kids, and you can’t do anything about that.   The transfer from Seymour didn’t win the job, what do you expect two quarterbacks to start at the same time? He played great on JV when he could stay healthy, and when he came in on varsity, he did great. The quarterback position is definitely going to be in good hands when the current starting quarterback leaves, but until then, they’re just going to be battling it out like every good quarterback competition does. The current starting quarterback has his flaws, and that is in the pass game, but what he doesn’t have flaws is running and scrambling, and if you go back and watch any game, which I’m sure you didn’t watch any, we used him very often, and when we needed a deep ball, we brought in the transfer from Seymour. The starting quarterback last year will be a senior this year, and the Seymour transfer will be a junior, so the Seymour transfer is definitely going to get his spotlight. He may even win the job this year. Football isn’t about who the newspaper thinks is the best kid. The best kid in the position will win the starting job, and I trust the coaching staff more than a newspaper or article to pick my starting QB.
    • I mean, we’ve only gotten two transfers that went on to play college football, one who went to UT Martin came his second semester junior year before the new coaching staff was here, and the other one went on to play at Maryville College, in which I don’t believe he had any interest prior to transferring.
