bigred4life
The Baylor boys and girls golf teams pulled away from the field today to both win D2 state championships. Baylor finished 1st followed by MUS. McCallie finished 8 strokes back for 3rd place. Ryan Thornton of Baylor and Zack Olsen of MUS were tied at the top of the leaderboard bringing on extra holes to determine the individual championship. Olsen won the individual championship with a par. The Baylor girls finished 1st. GPS and St Agnes came in tied for 2nd place 16 shots back. Sofia Hoglund of Baylor won the individual championship followed by fellow teammate Morgan McQuary in 2nd place. Congratulations Baylor....you put it together when it counted most! jon26
Way to step it up both Baylor teams. The pressure was on and the Red Raiders did not disappoint. Wish I could have been there to celebrate with them.....Congratulations.
bruisermom
Congratulations to Baylor. They just keep on rolling in golf. I have known a few of their players since they very young and even though I was pulling for GPS....I am very proud for Baylor. Great job to all. chattasoccer
Now that is amazing....I did not realize that Olsen is an 8th grader. Congratulations to him! Also, Baylor's continued run in Boys and Girl's golf is just amazing too. Well done Red Raiders! Olsen is an 8th grader, that is amazing. oldwiseone
Baylor played well and deserved to win. Congratulations to both of their teams. The 8th grade kid from MUS who won is the second ranked player in the U.S. for the class of 2013 - makes you wonder who is ahead of him. nike07
Well done Baylor! Probably the most dominating program for any sport in the state. Also, great job by the MUS 8th grader.
MBARED
I would just like to congratulate the boys and girls golf teams from Baylor. I have never seen the domination by one team in golf ever and it is just amazing. The Baylor community has alot to be proud of with you success. oldwiseone
Next year should be interesting as Baylor loses 3 of it's top 5 and it appears there are not strong players waiting to take their spots. MUS will be the decided favorite in 2009 unless a couple of new students appear out of nowhere.
bruisermom
McCallie loses 4 out of 5 don't they? With Baylor's history I would never count them out. They have set the bar for everyone. Congratulations again to Baylor and Go Bruisers! Next year should be interesting as Baylor loses 3 of it's top 5 and it appears there are not strong players waiting to take their spots. MUS will be the decided favorite in 2009 unless a couple of new students appear out of nowhere.
oldwiseone
McCallie loses 3 of it's top 5 as well which is the reason I didn't list them as a threat for state compared to MUS. I would never "count Baylor out", but do feel they will be behind MUS next year like everyone will be. McCallie has a freshman ready to step in and a good 8th grader as well, so they will have a decent team with only one senior. The key for McCallie will be finding a consistent 5th man.
