An interesting stat...after 10 games the '08 Devils are giving up 9.3 points per game and the '07 Devils gave up 9.3 points per game after 10 games. My point is that this team is playing defense at the same level as they were last year. Let's hope the offense can come around and put some points on the board. The way the defense is playing, all we need is 3 TD's (and extra points/conversions) and no turnovers and we'll have a great chance of winning against anybody in the West.

you also have to take into account who gave up those points as well. there were more points given up by starters this year as compared to last year. look at the 2005 year and the scores. i remember that around 5 td's were given up that year in the regular season to the 1 D the rest were scored against the second D.

Yeah I thought about that and it's a valid point. I think the '06 team was much more impressive on defense though (4.7 points per game). The impressive thing about the '08 team is that they don't have the potent offense like the '05-'07 teams did. In most of the games in '05-'07 the offense would jump out on the opposing team and they were trying to play catch up the rest of the game. I think that helps the defense out tremendously. This year the defense has had to play with their backs against the wall many times this year.

that is a very valid point as well. it is extremely hard to play catch up.

when we went to jo byrns last year we got down early and played catch up.we will come ready to play 4 quarters of football.

i didn't play for JB last year. i was playing college football. so i wouldn't know. but i was there in 2005 playin both sides of the ball when we came back from 2 td's down to beat MTP. so a comeback is always possible. but it is very difficult.

    • 20 but had 5-6 not dressed every game. It went down towards the end due to injuries and obviously only 15 got to dress for the state tournament. Then, they only lost 2 from this year and gain 8 from the middle school for next year
    • As somebody mentioned before, this is going to result in a massive lawsuit, can you imagine professional "educators" actually having the conversation about getting "the bad kids" out of the high school?  And the head coach asking directly to change grades, gets turned down, comes back again and gets it approved?  This is unbelievable.  In addition to the lawsuit, the state Department of Education is going to come down extremely hard on this.  WYSH is on the war path.  There could be dozens more lose their jobs by the time this is over.  And yeah the real shame is the kids being affected that literally had nothing to do with this and actually worked hard to earn their grades.
    • I've heard Powell from someone who talked to him. I saw the kid two days ago and I should of pulled over and talked with him and wished him well where ever he goes. It will be a ale of a loss for us because I don't believe we have anyone in the stable good as him from what I seen in the spring.
    • I would have to think that the firing of the 2 teachers is just the beginning of future moves.  If not, it is woefully short.  If the AC school board thinks that the damage is just limited to Clinton, they are sadly mistaken.  Any outsider would view the whole school system as suspect, and rightly so.
    • Yeah. AC brass walked in to the building at Clinton and suggested that the principal start changing grades.  Honesty, the notion that anybody at AC was involved is just idiocy.  The ones who are hurt most are the kids who weren't involved in the cheating, but still are being penalized by college admission decisions and scholarship consideration simply because they went to a school that was involved in such a scandal.
