Why can't they win any games? Players? Coaching? Administration?

Explain Please.

The facilities upgrades at the field are nice! Press box and field house are much better now. From talking with the middle school A.D. a few weeks ago,I understood him to believe that the youth football program in the county needed more involvement. Their middle school team is rarely competitive in a single game during the season. It's hard to catch the kids up in school ball if they haven't been grounded in the fundamentals. Congrats on the stadium improvements! Pride in the "workplace" is a good starting point. Get the right coach and he'll figure the rest out. Good luck Blue Devils!

Do they have a vistors side yet or is it still 1 side stands?

It's still one side splitback. That should be the next stadium improvement. Johnson Co. has the same problem basically, 4 rows aluminum bleachers aint much for a high school venue, but each of these schools are great mountain settings for high school football on crisp autumn nights.

Their middle school team plays Science Hill, John Sevier, Ross Robinson, Vance, Colonial Heights, Church Hill and TA Dugger in conference. So they are basically playing Johnson City's best, Kingsport's best, Bristol's best and so on in Middle School. It isn't impossible for them to be competitive, but they are playing teams they probably shouldn't be playing right now.

It's awful being stuck on the same side while being smeared by the visitors. At least when the game gets real ugly you can look around at the beautiful surroundings. Has to be one of the best views of all the stadiums I've been to. To bad the view on the field isn't as nice.

    • If he wanted to play QB he should have either went to Heritage or William Blount and had a real good chance there. In stead he'll be exactly what he was going to be at Maryville. They already know who their QB is going to be in 2025 and it ain't going to be him.
    • Easier said than done. The man who ran for 250+ yards and 3TDs is gonna be back….and a lot bigger.
    • plus it removes the pressure around winning.
    • You are correct.   The teacher's pay scale is virtually the same in Knox County, now, as it is at Oak Ridge.   The coaching supplements are still higher at Oak Ridge, from what I was told, but not a huge difference.   Plus, Rusty is going from a position coach to an OC position, which is what he was at South Doyle and where his comfort zone is.  And from a special education teaching slot to a PE teaching slot.  There is a lot of positivity in that move without even considering the coaching aspect.   Anybody who sees something negative here is just looking for negativity to begin with.  But some live in that world.   Really good hire for Brent.  He now has two experienced and quality coordinators and can concentrate on being a head football coach.
    • He was pretty darn good for a freshman, but he will have a hard time seeing the field at Oakland for a good while, I’m afraid.
