Wrestler's headgear

Wrestlers were not allowed to wear headgear with tape on them this past weekend at the tournament in Hendersonville NC. They said it was a new rule this year. Is this a new rule in TN as well?

Not that I am aware of. Unless "all equipment must be worn as intended by the manufacturer." But nothing was said about tape on headgear. Surely that isn't the case.

Ronnie that was the case for us this past weekend in North Carolina, we were told that all tape was to be removed from headgear. This was also applied to tape used as a structual support to the headgear. This was a quote from one official if it needs tape get a new head gear lol.

The new rule only applies to the uniform. A head gear is required equipment and is not the uniform.

... and what about tape on wrestling shoes. Should we all buy new shoes if there are no string covers?

Don't know the specifics of this, but wrestling equipment must be "unadorned". You cannot enhance it by adding cool stickers or magnets to it. You can't write a special message to your girlfriend or even your mom on your kneepads.
