A quick summary:

 

> MBA goes up 7-0 on a drive after a fumbled DB punt.

> DB methodically drives on MBA a couple of times and goes up 14-7, then MBA ties it at 14.

> DB scores just before the half to make it 21-14.

> MBA fumbles early in the third at its own 2; DB punches it in to make it 28-14.

> MBA then scores 17 unanswered points in the third and fourth to go up 31-28.

> DB kicks a late FG to tie it at 31 and sends it to OT.

> 1OT: DB scores TD first, MBA answers.

> 2OT: MBA scores TD first, DB answers.

> 3OT: DB held to a couple of yards, kicks FG. MBA pushes it to the one and scores on QB keeper on second down.

 

Truly a classic. DB plays second half without star McMillan and suffers numerous cramps/injuries by what seemed like a dozen players. MBA, outmanned, outsized, and out-supported fan-wise, stinks it up and gets some sweet payback from last year.

 

Both teams have work to do, but both should hang their heads high for entertaining the spectators and those of us who listened agonizingly on the radio.

All i can say is that was a great game and both teams played their hearts out. Hopefully DB will learn something from this loss and it will help them in the end if they can bounce back.

The Kingsport paper already has the story up on its website, less than two hours after the game ended. Some other members of the print media (not you, Dom; you set a good example, too, with your paper) across the state can learn a good example from Bill Lane and the folks at his paper by being timely.

football doesn't get much better than that, as a player or fan. best of luck to DB this year, you were a very classy opponent...and i hope all DB fans and players saw the science hill team on the MBA side chearin for us during overtime, that'll add some fuel to the rivalry. both teams left everything on the field. great game, and good luck DB.

Yeah Science Hill was cheering for MBA to beat DB because they know they can't do it themselves. Good Luck to MBA this year. That was a great game. Neither team deserved to lose one like that.
