SECMAN
I don't think Coach A would ever get him to come to R'Dale. Just think about it.He goes to Nolan, and says to him,I need Elrod to run the offense.Nolan then replies to him, I thought that was your job.How would that look to the man who hired you three years ago. That would look like you don't have a clue about what you are doing doesn't it?So everyone can forget about those two guys on the same team. OwnTheEdge
Simply didnt happen. Elrod is ready to slow down and didnt like the "direction" of the administration or the county in general. WC will be hurting without Elrod. If Aric takes over the offense I hope he has been studying. The reason he couldn't call the offense before was because he never understood how the wing t functioned or how Elrod's system worked. I just wonder if he felt threatened by Elrod's knowledge and the respect that other programs had for him? It sure wouldn't be the first time that a young upstart felt overshadowed by a veteran and gave them the shaft.
mediamogul
After making a few calls..........I stand corrected. Coach Elrod was "demoted" and choose to take the high rode and remove himself from the situation. Good luck to Coach Elrod. Also good luck to Coach Aric........he will need it. I can't believe WC let the BEST coach they had go! Aric needs to go not Elrod. Aric is alot of blow and no go! Dedman is now the best football coach that WC has now. Lost Old Dad
What ever the direction WC goes it will be less without Coach Elrod. His WingT may not be exactly like Ga Techs, but it is WAY ahead of every other WingT offense I have seen in this state. With all the applications that a bunch of coaches are making in Wilson County folks need to be asking WHY period.
mediamogul
Common misconception. While a wing is present in both the wing-t and the georgia tech slot option offense........they are nothing alike. Coach Elrod's offense is more precisely called a Hybrid wing-t which features traditional wing t formations and plays, along with non traditional single wing type sets as well as many formations in order to gain leverage at key points of attack. It does feature the option, but only as a compliment. The Georgia tech offense is option based.......period. Both offenses do feature the basic FB trap and the rocket type quick pitch sweep..........but it ends there. The most funny thing to me is that Floridas offense is MUCH more similiar to wing t than any other offense including the spread. It is 80% single wing with a touch of spread passing.........but the pundits in our glorious football state are so tied up in the concept of "spread offense", they fail to see the forest for the trees. If you don't like the message attack the messenger! Great idea. It still doesn't change the fact that Aric isn't a good head coach.
LILAL
Lay off the Fatman, maybe some behind the door actions were brought to his attention. There can only be 1 HC on a team, judge him on next year's record. He might hire Herschel Moore, who taught all the WING T.

I don't think any are picking on Coach Aric per se, just that they are wondering why he is trying to fix something that was not broken. Word I heard is WC will NOT be running the WingT next season reguardless of who comes in as OC. Some of us will be REAL interested to see exactly what offense WILL be run in the spring there.
