there was a homeschool girl that ran in most of the local cross-country meets in Chattanooga this year. She competed, placed and got awards but did not participate in the post-season. Could this kid wrestle in meets as an unattatched wrestler like they do in some college meets? I don't see how this would be different than the cross-country girl.

I think that would open up a whole can of liability worms but I'm not a coach so I guess it is worth a shot.

You would need to find a club team to join. They usually start in March. Check themat.com or tennwrestling.com for a list of teams.

 

17 is a bit late to start. Wrestling is a learned sport. No one starts out being good and rarely even average. Not trying to discourage you but it is doubtful that you would win any matches for quite some time.
