I talked with a friend from Jackson County. Pickett County lost their starting point guard in the region championship to an injury. Pickett County lost to Jackson County twice by 20 points and Clark Range by 20 points three different times, they came in fourth in the district. #3 Gibson is their main threat. Madison should win and it could be worse than I said earlier, I wasnt aware of the injury.

Again don't let the record fool you people. Pickett Co. as most of you are aware of plays in the best class A district in the state. Yes they lost to Clarkrange 2 or 3 times by several points but Clarkrange if the truth be known could play and win the 3A this year. And Jackson Co. beat them 2 times but this was not your normal JC team this year b/c they were a young ball team. But they will be back next year. Beware.

Yes PC lost their point guard Megan White to a knee injury. She will be sorely missed. But coach Smith has his team believing and playing hard. And the last few games shows that. I look for PC to play Clarkrange for the state title. Well I'll put it this way it wouldn't surprise me in the least to see them play the Lady Buffalo's saturday night for all the marbles. GO LADY BOBCATS MAKE EVERYBODY PROUD FROM DISTRICT 7A

PC played one of the toughest schedules in the state and didn't lose to any team outside of 7A and 7AA in the state. They beat 29-2 Arts & Sciences in the substate on A&S home court. The record is meaningless. They also led Clarkrange for most of the 1st half at Pickett and were only outscored by 4 in the 2nd half at Clarkrange. Not beating Clarkrange & Jackson Co. I believe is a mental thing...once they felt they could beat JC, they did. But for years they lost before they stepped on the court to those two. Megan may play on Wednesday according to her mother. They are winning when it matters. I'll take Pickett in another close game. I doubt Madison has played the teams Pickett has...Livingston (in AA state) twice, Clarkrange 3 times, Jackson Co. 3 times, Clay Co. etc. And besides Gibson we have Garner and some great freshmen coming off the bench. A&S made the mistake of not guarding Kaitlyn Beaty on a three and it cost them 3 points...what Pickett won by. I hope Kayla Gibson is OK, she took a lot of charges and was knocked to the floor several times last night. A&S was no pushover.

    • Winfree's senior year was the season she needed to secure more college interest. That opportunity was taken away from her. A lot of false assumptions can be made about what happened and what the options are. Unfortunately, the former coach and administration did not allow Winfree to have due process. A lawsuit was filed for a reason, and it will run its course by people who conduct discovery and take depositions. Unless the parties settle out of court, a lot of the pertinent issues will come to the public surface. I wrote about many of the issues here: https://bdnewsletter.news/2023/11/17/grounds-for-investigation-and-suspension/ I interviewed Winfree after she was dismissed from the team and wrote about it here: https://bdnewsletter.news/2023/12/01/a-new-interview-with-sable-winfree/ Winfree had been on teams in Warren County since the fourth grade and never been dismissed from a team. The real questions are why was Winfree dismissed from the team, and why the administration backed a coach whom they did not rehire.
    • What is the hold up here? I have not heard anything in weeks. Are they waiting for the right person or is something else going on?
    • Per usual, we'll be hard to beat in the regular season, I'm sure. It's the post season that I'm more worried about, specifically the coaches. Maybe they'll be able to make some adjustments that will keep the momentum in our favor. How's Grays recovery coming along?
    • Something don’t add up here a college coach is not going to turn away a good player they need just because they didn’t get along with their high school coach
    • RR, you might remember. Didn’t someone hide the kicking shoe that game? It seems I remember we had missed a kick the week before, and we needed all the points we could get. We thought we had a better chance going for two, so $?&@$ hid the shoe after the first miss that game. No one on our sideline looked for it very hard.
