Heritage v. Sevier County was rained out tonight and rescheduled for tommorrow. Any other cancellations for tonight in the district?

Hey theflash003, what happened to SC down the stretch? All the SC fans on here said they were playing for 2nd place. I just looked and they have a losing record in district. Not trying to get you all worked up, just wondering what happened, injuries etc.

i'm not worked up its understandable.. we decided to have some bad games at the wrong times. SC is at least even with Bearden who they split with and SD who just got hits when they needed them against us to win both games. SC can play with everybody in the district and is very capable of beating them. The funny thing about baseball is ancan lose on any given day. But at the end of the day we aren't where we want to be and we know it. All that matters is we play our best baseball when it really matters in the tourney.

Also, from looking at posts on here, here is what i see the standings to be. If anyone has better info... let me know...

Farragut, one loss

Bearden, 3 losses

South Doyle, 4 losses

Maryville, 5 losses

SC, 6 losses

Of course things may have changed, but at least in the past, the D4AAA tournament has played this way:

The #1 seed has played the 8 seed and hosted the 4 and 5 seeds. The #2 seed plays the 7 seed, and hosts the 3 and 6. Winners play out of those "pools" in a double-elimination fashion to a championship. District finalists advance to the next week's region tournament. The district champion will host the D3 runner-up, and the D4 runner-up will travel to the D3 champion.

How can SC be even with Bearden and South Doyle when they lost 3 of the 4. I agree that anyone can lose on any given day, but goods teams don't lose on as many "given" days as SC has this year. I also agree that the tourney is all that matters, but SC better turn it around in a hurry if they hope to make any kind of noise in the district tourney, especially after losing tonight to WB and with Farragut left to play. Best wishes on the rest of your season!!

    • Did this happen? Does anyone know? Ripley has their HC job posted on the bulletin board over the weekend.
    • Coalfield definitely isn't the same team they've had the past few years. They are still the favorites to make it out of their region because of their pitching. They have 1 arm that sits low to mid 80s and 2 other arms that are mid to high 70s with good off speed stuff. If you can avoid their top 3 bats in their lineup then you have a shot to beat them. Their 4-9 hitters are average at best. Wartburg's ace was able to shut them down last week in the game Wartburg won 4-2.
    • It is the longest season. Plus, 30 games a year. No Christmas break. I would say basketball is the most time consuming.
    • No movement on Chester? South Gibson? Gibson County?
    • Winfree's senior year was the season she needed to secure more college interest. That opportunity was taken away from her. A lot of false assumptions can be made about what happened and what the options are. Unfortunately, the former coach and administration did not allow Winfree to have due process. A lawsuit was filed for a reason, and it will run its course by people who conduct discovery and take depositions. Unless the parties settle out of court, a lot of the pertinent issues will come to the public surface. I wrote about many of the issues here: https://bdnewsletter.news/2023/11/17/grounds-for-investigation-and-suspension/ I interviewed Winfree after she was dismissed from the team and wrote about it here: https://bdnewsletter.news/2023/12/01/a-new-interview-with-sable-winfree/ Winfree had been on teams in Warren County since the fourth grade and never been dismissed from a team. The real questions are why was Winfree dismissed from the team, and why the administration backed a coach whom they did not rehire.
