The Cascade Lady Champions opened their 2009 campaign with a 6-2 (not 7-3 as listed on the scoreboard) win over Moore County. It was a typical early season game with lots of errors and lots of missed scoring chances for both teams. Congrats to Ralph Edwards on his first win as a head softball coach.

The final score was actually 7-2. I apologize for the inaccuracy of the scoreboard on my part.

Errors will be typical for Moore County all season. Their coach is a joke. This guy does not have a clue what he is doing. He is only coaching because he has 2 babies to pay for. If it wasnt for the volunteer coach nothing would get done and they would never practice. Good Luck on your season Cascade.

[/font]This quote hits close to home, ive experienced this team, watched them through the years grow, not only as a softball players but as friends, as teammates, as good people. This past season ive seen each player strive to succeed, year after to year softball is shooved aside at moore co., these young players have nothing but a field and hopes, no support from the locals. they were known as the underdogs, but this season, ive seen they're days of hardwork, MONDAY THROUGH SUNDAY, DAY AFTER DAY! they're determined, each player is a valuable piece to the puzzle but most of all most of all its this coach that you say is an utter mockery, is not. this man is as stood by them and to be the one of very few who believe in them. so say what you want, this man has 7 kids, he's raised the last 5 on his own, 2 is no problem, so why would he take that job if he didn't live for the dust on your eyes, the sweat rollin off your back, the thrill of a steal, and the love of the sport!!! i just wanna say thank you moore co. raiderettes, all 3 coaches who believed in them, all the ppl who have doubted ya'll, youve succeeded you've proved the doubters wrong, congrats on AN AWESOME SEASON!

    • Groves got the ball over 20+ times. His son arguably played the best for East in that game. 3rd and long multiple times and he came up big to continue a couple drives. Please shut up for the 3rd year in a row
    • And can you tell me who those two quarterbacks were, and every kid that was put into college from Bearden is a Bearden kid? It’s kind of why they graduated from Bearden.   and I would definitely not consider ETSU “waste”…
    • Most of this is complete gibberish. But the one part I could decipher is putting kids in college. This coaching staff hasn’t put a single Bearden kid in college. They completed wasted one of the best WRs in East TN and have ruined two talented QBs. All because they’re in over their heads.
    • Well, I’d hope the new coaching staff thinks they are all that because they can always walk around the school, anytime they want, thinking that, especially for what they’ve done for the student athletes and the players, putting more kids in college in his first season than the old coaching staff did in numerous years combined, but we will just sweep over that because I know you don’t like facts. But trust me, nobody wanted Mr. Big britches, made the star player switch to quarterback, which is ultimately the reason he ended up transferring to play the position. He loved, but unfortunately, had to be at another school because Mr. Big Britches doesn’t like when a teenager knows more than him, but can’t expect much coming from a guy who used all class throwing pencils up into the ceiling and making fun of football kids who were failing class right to their face, and in front of numerous students, even projecting on the board most of the time.
