11sportsfan
Shelbyville senior right-handed pitcher Jordan Cooper looked great against last year state tournament team and defending District 8-AAA champion Lincoln County Wednesday night. Lincoln County has a great team but lost to Cooper and the Eagles 10-0 in five innings. I think Cooper has signed with Kentucky and there were a lot of scouts there watching him. He is the real deal. Nine strikeouts, including seven looking!

Nine strikeouts, including seven looking! He threw consistently in the 91 range on a 38 degree night and the air was heavy. The scouts were impressed. He threw just 50 some odd pitches in five innings. 20 scouts in little ole Shelbyville is fantastic for their school and for the young man. It will be fun to follow him through the season. Looks like Brad Frazier has his team right where he said he would when he took over three years ago. His presence overshadows another fine pitcher in Hunter Brothers. This kid is the real deal too. Don't know what year he is but the Eagles may very well have two major league draft choices on thier team right now.
sportsguy22
Hunter Brothers is a junior. Not sure if he is big league material any time soon. He is too inconsistent right now, but he can be impressive at times. Oddly enough, his older brother Rex is currently a bigtime prospect at Lipscomb. He is a left-hander throwing in the 90's and has dozens of scouts at his appearances. He is their ace and pitches on Fridays. Although he is only a junior, he'll likely be an early draft pick and probably go pro. So, Shelbyville has two kids in Cooper and Rex Brothers that will likely be drafted in the early rounds in June. Pretty cool for a small town and for two really good kids. By the way, Shaq Thompson is another name to keep an eye on. He is a junior and throws very hard and can be dominant at times. Shelbyville has a very nice 1-2-3 punch, maybe one of the best in the state this year.

Saw him pitch the home opener two weeks ago -- 20 or so scouts on hand. Wish him nothing but success.
