Wrestling State Duals Moving to Franklin

Hahaha absolutely not, but anyway we got off topic here because countrypk wants to fill ironman's shoes and make himself look like an idiot. If you look at what countrypk has posted on this topic it has been nothing constructive or informative, it has been him just picking fights. Look I don't know, nor do I care who your people are, but perhaps you should actually post something worth talking about instead of just trying to start arguments.

Kind of touchy, aren't we? I was originally responding to a post about some stupid little bird which supposedly chirped something about moving the traditionals to the boro. You commented about people from Chattanooga who would whine and gripe about a hypothetical move. My comment which offended your tender sensibilities was pointing out that a number of "your people" do an inordinate amount of whining and griping as you have just demonstrated regarding my posts. Thank you for making my point! Incredibly, Kevin Lenahan was able to rise from his humble high school education and I don't believe I ever heard the Leprachan whine and gripe.

As far as the original topic, I'm thrilled with the move and a thank you to Clarksville for doing a great job hosting the event and setting the standard; kind of like Chattanooga did with the Spring Fling.

The arena was the one with the problem on bringing in food, not TSSAA.

Unless something changes, don't look for the traditional here in 2010. If it does happen, it will probably be 2011. Give us a chance to try and pull off the duals first. You never know, we could totally fall on our faces on this.

I was told by Scott Smith (President of the Greater Chattanooga Sports Committee) that Chattanooga has a commitment from the TSSAA to hold the Traditional at UTC in 2010, 2011 and 2012. /popcorneater.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":popcorneater:" border="0" alt="popcorneater.gif" />

I would like to think that any commitment would be conditioned on UTC honoring a Thursday, Friday, Saturday schedule. Having the days changed 2 of the last 3 years, has been a huge inconvenience for the families of over 400 high school wrestlers. It has also caused expenses to all of the schools involved for an extra day of substitute teachers to cover for the coaches having to miss an extra day. Having the finals on Friday also gives the Chattanooga schools a big home field advantage as many fans from other parts of the state cannot get off of work to come to Chattanooga on Friday.

If the Greater Chattanooga Sports Committee and UTC can guarantee the traditional schedule, then I have no problem (except the stupid rule about wrestlers food) with the tournament staying there. If there is any possibility of the days being changed again at the whim of UTC, then it needs to go elsewhere.

All I know for certain is that next year is Thursday ---- Saturday.

I guess commitments are made to be broken. /blush.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="blush.gif" />

No surprise in this one and it could end up being a net positive. Let's see what the guys in Nashville can put together. Still very excited both classes will be back in the same place for duals!

Good luck to those in Nashville and congrats on having the state dual and traditionals in the same venue.

Maybe now they will add double elimination to the format of the traditional since this facility is supposed to be big enough to handle it.

Def glad to see it be on Thurs Fri Sat format as well.

There will still be plenty that will not like something about the new venue as well.

my brother lives 15 min from the venue so that is a plus for me and my boys /smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

    • Sorry Barn. I wasn’t specific enough. It seems I’m always protecting the principal at 825. My interactions with her have been extremely positive, but very limited. With all the other stories being told, I’m confident there are other sides I am not aware of. Regardless, there are lots of decent people earning good checks up there. Maybe too good, which explains why no one is willing to speak up. My beef is with the poor communication among the athletic programs and with the administration. Seven years ago the poor communication led to my son missing graduation due to a sporting event that was planned months before. I chalked it up to the system being totally shocked that the baseball team made it out of their district, and our then AD was a football coach. Maybe they were surprised and did not plan appropriately. That was more palatable than they just didn’t give a crap. Déjà vu, seven years later, same thing. Different administration, but same result.  Maybe in seven more years, it will actually be “about the kids”. They should do better.
