Bucs
Who are some of the big bad D's in the state this year. Only post your opinion if you think they are the real thing too. This thread is only for the top dogs of defense. I think Beech's defense is for real this year. Im not just sayin it b/c im a beech fan, im serious they are lookin great so far. MaryvilleRebels
Maryville's first team defense has held opponents to 7 points, and 7 points for anything other than first string. Maryville held Halls to 31 yards of offense. I cannot recall how many yards Alcoa got, but it wasn't much, the majority of it came on one play, a fluke! MrChattanoogaFootball
In a game with McCallie they gave up 125 yds Total. [Edited by ramtrain on 9-8-02 10:31A]
MaryvilleRebels
Maryville or Beech? Because Maryville doesn't play McCallie, ever!
slim589
I'm kinda partial but I think Blackman's defense is and will prove on into the season that it is one to be reckoned with!
mynameis
Tullahoma's defense has been very good this year. The first team has only given up 7 points this year and that was to a good Colombia team.
Guest OSGuacomole
oliver Springs defense has yet to be scored on, and other opponets havent crossed midfield but maybe twice. They have also caused 11 turnovers in just 2 games pretty impressive.

Hairman hasnt scored on anyone this season, and lenior city's only win came against a team with a 12 game losing streak.

Bucs
well Blackmans D got beat up on tonight, and oliver springs D gave up 21, so they are out the question not the real thing... on the other hand beech's defense had yet another great night. The 1st D shutout warren co( not that it says much to do that), and the 3's gave up the 12 points with warren co's ones still in the game. Beechs Defense IS the real thing. Philster043
After witnessing the Maryville D against Heritage tonight, yep, I would have to say Maryville has one of the best defenses. They actually pushed Heritage backwards for most of the night --- even with their second-stringers and third-stringers! The Heritage first-stringers were minus 41 yards at the half, according to my stats count. Heritage made it up in the second half with a hook-and-ladder trick play for a touchdown against our fourth-stringers, but they were still around pretty much zero yards at the end of it. If interception returns and fumble returns counted against Heritage's overall yardage total, they would still have been minus 50 yards. Of course, that was Heritage. Next week will be the true test --- against Morristown West at their stadium. Our DB's will have to step up and really cover West's receivers well. Our linebackers will still probably get most of the tackles though (they always do).
MaryvilleRebels
Maryville gave up 92 yards to Heritage, all in the 4th quarter with sophmores playing. Going into the fourth quarter Heritage was held to minus 2 yards and at the half about minus 40. Thats so pretty good defense if ya ask me!
