Games are canceled for today. Friday's games will now be played Monday and on from there. Hopefully, the flash floods tomorrow will not push it back any further.

 

 

Looks like the same thing for today. Maybe the District tournament can start tomorrow.

Why?

 

Lincoln Co is the best choice to have it. Field is on top of a hill so it drains really well. They have a cover for the infield and it is a central location. Plus, they are the number 1 seed so it's not like it's cheating anyone that did not deserve it out of a chance for a home field advantage.

The softball district tournament starts tonight in Shelbyville with Columbia taking on Franklin County and Lawrence Co. and Shelbyville playing at game 2. The winners move on and the loser??™s season ends. The Lady Raiders will play the winner of the Lawrence Co./Shelbyville game at 7pm Wednesday night in Shelbyville. Lincoln Co. will play the Columbia/Franklin Co. winner at 5pm.

The way I understand it 3,4,5,and 6 are playing the games tonight as single elimination. After that (if they play) it goes back to double. If it rains them out tonight I guess it will all go back on the table or they may already have plan #3...or 4.

I know none of this is what anyone wanted but they are trying to do the best they can given the circumstances. From what I was told if they play tonight then the Championship would be Friday at 7:00 with the "what if" game scheduled for Saturady at 10:00 AM.

 

Maybe it will dry up a little.

Although the rain is putting a damper on the tourney, I'm still pretty excited to see the way things are going to turn out. Lincoln County has proven to be on top all year long; however, in the court of public opinion, they are still trying to outshine Coffee County. Can Lawrence County's pitching take them all the way? Or maybe will a lesser team like Franklin County or Shelbyville pull off a couple of upsets? Hopefully, we can get this thing going and answer some of these questions.
