The problem - current plan favors a team with one dominant pitcher to the detriment of teams with several good pitchers.

 

Possible answer - the 'Limbaugh' plan (now in its 10th year or so???)

 

How about this variation?

 

Lets look at AAA

 

Odd year so odd region hosts

 

On Friday we do the current thing of #2s travel to #1s...

 

On Saturday, the losers play and then the winners play at #1 of odd region

 

So this year, on Saturday,

 

at Science Hill

 

Morristown East vs Morristown West

David Crockett vs Science Hill

 

at Powell

Knox Halls vs Powell

Bearden vs Farragut

 

at McMinn Co

Soddy Daisy vs Ooltewah

McMinn Co vs Cleveland

 

at Blackman

Lawrence Co vs Lebanon

Coffee Co vs Blackman

 

at Mt Juliet

Dickson Co vs Beech

Clarksville vs Mt Juliet

Antioch vs McGavock

Winner of Winners is in Spring Fling

Winner of Losers plays losers of winners at higher seed or odd region if same seed on Saturday for spot in Spring Fling.

 

We start spring fling on Wednesday and end on Sunday so more people can watch the games on the weekend and starter in game #1 has enough rest for championship game. (Monday is a holiday for rain date)

Sounds like a good plan to me. Im for anything that eliminates the "single game elimination" set up that currently exists in the REgion and State sectional games.
