Any assistance been named yet?

I don't think so. Nothing official that I know of, but the minutes from the last board meeting haven't been posted yet. /biggrin.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" /> Cheatham County schools have a lot of fish to fry between now and the beginning of school. They're hiring 2 principals and a director of schools besides filling coaching positions.

Coach Jones has hit the ground running with facilities and getting with the Booster Club about what needs to be done. Right now, getting the field in some kind of shape for tryouts is the priority.

Dang Coach........ /huh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="huh.gif" />

The system has gone through some coaches, teachers and administrators in the last few years. Even a director or 3. Is that different than any other system? idk, I'm asking. The news from my home town is much the same. I think they had to hire 5 girl's basketball coaches in one county. Franklin too from a baseball coach point of view.

I'll say this, there are some folks excited about the new baseball coach at Harpeth. Coach Jones has a lot of energy and has already put alot of work in to the field and facilities. There's some talent on the Rock and if we can get everybody pulling in the same direction instead of in their own direction, it could be a nice ride. Eddie Pomeroy has been named as an assistant coach and I think there'll be at least one more assistant.

  • 2 weeks later...

Alternate tryouts July 31st. Last chance for the 2010 season.

Coach Jones has really made strides with field and facility improvements. The Rock is looking good! Visiting teams might be interested to know that they will be on the 1st base side next year. The Indians will move to the 3rd base side and I expect to see a lot more Harpeth fans on top of the hill.

Hey ksgovols, I was going to let you that baseball dead period begins tomorrow the 27th until August 18th. Then after that it is conditioning and so on until January. The next time a team can have tryouts is the first official practice date. Thought I would pass along that info so you guys don't get in any trouble.

    • Sorry Barn. I wasn’t specific enough. It seems I’m always protecting the principal at 825. My interactions with her have been extremely positive, but very limited. With all the other stories being told, I’m confident there are other sides I am not aware of. Regardless, there are lots of decent people earning good checks up there. Maybe too good, which explains why no one is willing to speak up. My beef is with the poor communication among the athletic programs and with the administration. Seven years ago the poor communication led to my son missing graduation due to a sporting event that was planned months before. I chalked it up to the system being totally shocked that the baseball team made it out of their district, and our then AD was a football coach. Maybe they were surprised and did not plan appropriately. That was more palatable than they just didn’t give a crap. Déjà vu, seven years later, same thing. Different administration, but same result.  Maybe in seven more years, it will actually be “about the kids”. They should do better.
    • That's a fair line. But if it's not over, that's a big problem.
    • RR, you think that changes this year, or at least improves? I know they had a couple of talented young receivers last year that made some plays later in the year. Defensive back was a struggle against any team that was above average at throwing the ball.
    • You would think they got a bunch of interest
    • You would think with football just three months away more would be talking. There's only so much a person can say about someone allowing the field to get painted without asking their boss who would have said ((((((((  ALE NO ))))))))) or all the other BULLS#!T they've done as they lead Maryville High into the new age of WOKE in a conversative town. I'm ready for some football news without hearing something coming out of 825 that Power Munger has done to cap off the week.
