New Offensive Coordinator @ McGavock

Recommended Posts

2 year starter at qb Cody McKinley and wr's Aaron Simms, Deontae Battle, Anthony Knigh, Devon Warfied, & Darius Turner will be a dangerous offense to try to defend. This is one of the best combination of wr's in metro..might even be one of the elite in 6A. If the offensive line can come threw aswell as the defense...WATCH OUT EVERYBODY!

what happened to your former OC? is he still on staff?

isn't it pretty much the same for everyone - if there offensive line plays well and so does the defense = pretty darn good... just my observations about high school football

The spread offense looked O.K. during the Whites Creek scrimmage, but I think with the team learning the new offense they are a year away. With the new district they SHOULD make the playoffs but will exit first round. From what I've heard kids have shown up to off-season workouts and are committing themselves to the program. WE SHALL SEE /popcorneater.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":popcorneater:" border="0" alt="popcorneater.gif" />

I'm from NET but I went to school at Cumberland in the 70's. My roommates were from various parts of Nashville and I got to see a few different schools play football.

Our team recieved a new coach and a new "spread Offense" in '04. It took fully 2 years to learn it and it took the 3rd year to achieve success with it. Linemen must acclimate to it and normally they get it much sooner than the RB's get it. And the RB's sometimes never get it. The common consensus is that the running game is more effective from the spread. The answer to that is Yes,...potentially. The spread requires a totally different style RB and three yards and a cloud of dust will never acclimate to the spread. The spread is built for shifty, turn on a dime, 5'8' 165-175lbs. lightning backs. It don't matter what their 40 is just as long as they are quick off the line. 6'1" 225lb. fullbacks will never make it. The average yard per carry out of the spread will increase 4 yards per carry just because of the offense. If not then you got the wrong back. It is of course a passing offense. But just the nature of this offense guarantees a successful running game. Granted, you only need one RB and he will only get 12-15 carries per game. But the average score will be 8 plays in 3 minutes. That's why they call it quick strike.

Isn't it true that you need smaller quicker offensive lineman also?

To hardtackle I don't know if Baskins is at McGavock or not but he wasn't at the scrimmage.

New offense looking O.K. still need to gel more as a group. Lot of athletes at the skill positions but need more work.

    • We could sure use some math teachers country wide. Ever go into a store or restaurant and the bill comes to $9.97 and you give them a ten dollar bill and 2 pennies because you wanted a nickle back and then the meltdown starts and the next thing two more people have to come and help figure it out and the place comes to a complete halt. I see this everyday and it's a sad representation of all these schools allowing these kids out the door to get shortchanged the rest of their life.
    • I like the Pirates chances. I’ll be there as soon as work allows.
    • Stars, I heard we were searching far and wide for some math teachers. Any chance their kids bench press or 40 times are getting checked? LOL I’ve heard good things from 825.
    • I think it was expected. “Bad” luck I guess to get a couple difference maker QBs in the same class. I thought the decision was made a little early myself, but they were struggling offensively last year.  I assume the running quarterback alco had last year would be a senior this fall, and the transfer would start the following two years in addition to getting a ton of playing time this year. Maybe he waits two yrs, but I doubt it. The kid is good. So is the one who stayed.
    • I'm from Cloudland and we've never played a sectional game.  We need to win tomorrow night to avoid that bus ride.  Us and north greene can play with you guys so I'm expecting good games whoever the matchup is.
