New Bearden Coach

I feel like whoever comes in is going to have a really tough job in front of them. After losing the talented senior class with Ford, Greenway, Copeland, Taco, Elmore, Potter, etc. They will really have to find some rising juniors who will step up. The numbers simply aren't there in the upcoming senior class. I've heard this is the smallest group of seniors the baseball team has seen in nearly a decade? Any truth to this?

Irish,

How many Seniors does Bearden have? seems like it will be tough to compete with Farragut. Everytime i pick up the KNS, they have a TN signee

The roster I found has 9 listed as upcoming seniors, which doesnt make them the smallest senior class since last year they had 7 seniors... The rumor I heard was wrong. However, 4 of them are listed as pitcher only. What I do know is that the talent does fall off dramatically from last years seniors. As I said earlier, Potter, Greenway, Ford, Elmore, Taco, Copeland, and Lail were all very solid players. I think... 2 or 3 were D-1. and 2 were juco? Not sure on the numbers. But solid players were lost and all played a position. What does look up for bearden is a strong junior class though.

And about Farragut, I doubt they will be AS GOOD as last year. I mean they're going to be pretty darn good with Delmonico, Bennett, Williams, Pfeifer, and several others returning, but losing thorson, stallings, powell, cooper, etc. is a big loss. And Pharr will prove to be an even bigger loss.

Although Bearden may not be as good as last year, they do seem to have a good crop coming from their JV/Freshman team. The JV team pretty much beat Science Hill's JV into submission.

Yeah by no means am i saying bearden is going to be a bad team. Big losses but the same thing has happened in the past too. The JV team was very solid as they are year after year. Get the right coach in there and Bearden will be in the picture.

    • Well nothing new, the Mustangs are really talented again this coming season!  They very well could go undefeated in regular season.  We shall see what happens in postseason.  I think the path to state title game is a little clearer than years past.  I think the Stangs are going to be really good and I think the traditional teams around in 2A are not going to be as strong.  It should be a fun season!
    • I would not put too much stock into the UH over Eagleville. From what I understand they were pretty banged up in that tourney. Catcher was out, they were throwing pretty deep in their bullpen and a few key players were beat up in their infield. Sounds like they are pretty healthy heading into the district tournament. Look at their schedule, they played some really good teams.
