Just to clarify. LHS's Head coach, Coach Moose, was done wrong. He WASNT fired for poor preformance. He was let go because he took a leave of absence because of cancer. The school board just made a bad decision on that because now oakland has one of the smartest minds, football or book smarts, working for them, not against them.

Coach Marshall was NOT "let go" because he had cancer. There were many, many issues on both sides that lead to his departure.

He has a great football mind and will be an asset to the Oakland program.

Let's just let the kids at these schools play football and have fun. Isnt that what sports are about? To have fun? Or did everyone get caught up in all the glamour of fame and W-L records? I believe the most important thing for a student athlete is to have fun in what he is doing. I know my son is having fun at MJ, and he doesn't care who lines up against him, hes going to give his best and play hard. If they win, wonderful, but as long as they have fun, thats all these kids at MJ want to do. So I say we stop worrying about the county and the coaches they had, and start worrying about whether the kids are having fun in the program. Lets all just shut up about the old coaches, theyre gone, best of luck to them, but for the sake of these kids, let them play football. Go Bears!

There is no REAL fun in interscholastic team sports without winning. Especially football. You may be mistaking amusement for fun.

I'll bet that bus ride home is a TON of fun. Maybe as much fun as practice Monday. Seriously, you're kiddin', right?

Apparently I give more credit to what you say than the other fans who posted. There may not be any real fun in interscholastic sports without winning but that doesn't mean that is the way it should be. Yes, there is more fun in winning but the sport itself should be fun, also. If it isn't then we will have a lot of miserable athletes around.

CoachT, I'm not saying that the sport shouldn't be self-sufficent, as far as participation, when weighing to play or not play. Sure, there's always going to be a modicum of enjoyment that comes from just being a part of a team. No one should demean any individual for trying to better things around them. But FUN is about winning. Maybe not winning but trying to win. About not accepting losing. About whatever, within the rules, stops losing. That is almost always NOT fun. That is almost always WORK. And it has been my experience that WORK hurts and makes people want to do something else if they're looking for FUN. I would hope that everyone could experience winning, but if you're not, and you're still having FUN, you're missing the point. Just an opinion.
