PHargis
7AAA, official ballots are on CoachT concerning Miss Basketball and certainly with the records of schools, candidates are certainly in the District. Most players are from schools who are in the top ten in their Division. Please vote if it is your inclination.

PHargis
For those of you who are interested, two schools who are old friends from last year and could be substate rivals played tonite. The rivals between schools and even between communities are legendary. I thought I would post this since the names in this box score are known to many in the Boro for their intense play. The score is just a little different. White county 50- Cookeville 46. I'll post the box when I can. Chicksdighicks
Since Tara Davis left Oakland, the girls program has been average at best and at the bottom of the district. Everyone talks about what a great coach JG is. When she has talent she does great. But in my opinion a great coach develops talent. Oakland's girls are not competitive at all in the district. Is this the year Mr. Spurlock makes a change or does he even care? Opinions?
PHargis
Tara Davis is a senior I believe at ETSU. JG is talented as a coach, no question about it. Things are not going to get any easier for Oakland as the District has changed dramatically. Attracting players to the program seem to be a problem. Oakland went thru the same problem in football and resolved it. Boys basketball lost a great coach.. Volleyball has attracted some good talent the past two years. There seems to be some talent in the school. Basketball seems to be losing recruits in/ school to Volleyball. A new middle school is being built across the street which should act as a feeder school, however, another school is there also. Some have said getting players from Central had been a problem but Central is now a magnet school I understand which means, I guess, students can go anywhere I think. A good MS Coach would help. Oakland is a large school and has been written in the last two years, is not getting female students involved in athletics. This is a principal problem but the competition has gotten much stiffer. The school cannot drop to AA but could compete in District 6 better. No one wants to do that. Oakland is a tradition in the BORO. Some have posted things are gettiing better. Not many fans from Oakland even post on here which is not a good sign of interest.
riverdaleman
I think with the lascassas girls and kittrels girls going to a true middle school will help out the oakland problem. I really think the middle school program will help oakland and i also think that the newness of siegel has worn out so people moving into siegel zone has slowed down and oakland should start making a comeback in the next few years
PHargis
Rd, did I hear that k-8 or k-12 has been changed this year and from now on its K-5 and 6-8 for lower grades. If thats so, school Districts all over the state should adopt. Ummm, that should stir things up.
