Obion Co vs Ripley

Recommended Posts

I knew I should have copied and pasted this last night when I made my post....

Class AA District 13

3A--The team that finishes the highest in the final district standings becomes playoff eligible. If two 3A schools finish 1st and 2nd in the final district standings both become playoff eligible. 4A - The top 3 teams become playoff eligible. The Ripley/Dyersburg game does not count in district standings.

District 13 Class 4A

Crockett County If Crockett County wins they are a 1st place qualifier; otherwise they are a 2nd place qualifier.

Obion County Obion County is an automatic qualifier unless Ripley wins and Haywood County wins, in which case the 4th tiebreaker criteria must be

used. This can not be determined until all results for Friday nights games are compiled.

Haywood County If Haywood County wins and Obion County wins, Haywood County is an automatic qualifier. If Haywood County wins and Ripley wins, the

4th tiebreaker criteria must be used. This can not be determined until all results for Friday night's games are compiled.

Ripley If Ripley wins, Ripley is an automatic qualifier; otherwise they are an automatic qualifier.

Dyersburg If Dyersburg and Obion County win, Dyersburg is an automatic qualifier; otherwise they may only qualify as a wild card.

Covington May only qualify as a wild card.

Justa...I think OC is a better team than Ripley....Having said that, I think the pressure will get em...I hope I'm wrong but I also know their history....(I know, past history is just that...Just seems like history repeats itself alot with this program)...I know the last time OC went to Ripley and played in awful weather was back in 2006 when the Rebels bulled their way down the field and won at the end on a field goal....Didn't have a single bad center to QB exchange all night in that quagmire of a field..They also just lined up and handed the ball off to Mark Grooms or Garrett Grady just kept it himself...That offense may have been better suited for the mess they are about to play in Friday night...They can't have a bunch of turnovers, that's for sure...

Definitely too many wild scenarios left to play out for this time of year. I like every game to count, and a win would simplify things for the Rebs AND me! Thanks for the scenarios possible.

I nearly drowned and froze that night in Ripley. Thank goodness for that ridge behind the bleachers. High ground was definitely needed that night!!

I too think OC has the better team this year. I have watched Haskins and Minnick in the mud, and I think the weather may actually be beeter for us than a dry field. I still think the Rebel defense has been the game changer for them this year and hope it is tomorrow night as well. As I said, I don't think these boys could feel anymore pressure than they have had all season. At this point for the program, the playoffs are a bonus, granted, a desired bonus! I just have to ride with the boys again in this one.

End of 1st Qtr at Ripley....

OC - 0

Ripley - 0

Ripley scores on the first play of the 2nd qtr on a 59 yard pass...2pt conv. no good...

OC - 0

Ripley - 6

OC had two 1st qtr drives...One off the opening kickoff on a sqib/onside kick...OC thought they had a 1st down around the Ripley 40 but came up short....OC held and Ripley downed the punt on the Rebels 1 yd line....OC drove the ball, all on the ground, to inside the Ripley 30 but again was stopped on a 4th and short...The Rebels also thought they had a fumble recovery but the officials ruled the Tiger runner down..

    • Never in my life have I seen a team in a scrimmage against their own defense look so lost and confused. The defense didn’t look much better, the coaching staff can’t keep their anger together, not only with the players but also with their other coaches. I feel awful for those players. None of them look like they wanted or should’ve been out there, but for the grown men on the sidelines acting like fools, it's just embarrassing to the Farragut name and reputation. I now see why they chose not to live stream this on their YouTube channel.
    • We could sure use some math teachers country wide. Ever go into a store or restaurant and the bill comes to $9.97 and you give them a ten dollar bill and 2 pennies because you wanted a nickle back and then the meltdown starts and the next thing two more people have to come and help figure it out and the place comes to a complete halt. I see this everyday and it's a sad representation of all these schools allowing these kids out the door to get shortchanged the rest of their life.
    • I like the Pirates chances. I’ll be there as soon as work allows.
    • Stars, I heard we were searching far and wide for some math teachers. Any chance their kids bench press or 40 times are getting checked? LOL I’ve heard good things from 825.
    • I think it was expected. “Bad” luck I guess to get a couple difference maker QBs in the same class. I thought the decision was made a little early myself, but they were struggling offensively last year.  I assume the running quarterback alco had last year would be a senior this fall, and the transfer would start the following two years in addition to getting a ton of playing time this year. Maybe he waits two yrs, but I doubt it. The kid is good. So is the one who stayed.
