davidlimbaugh
Find a way to accurately rank teams 1-32 in each class and then play out, with those rankings being the seeds. You have to get some type of "bonus" for a quality win (beating a quality opponent), to keep people from trying to fluff their schedule. You're not penalized for losses, rather awarded points for wins, bonuses for other ranked teams or higher classification, etc. Perhaps 1 point for a win over a lower classified opponent, 2 for same, 3 for higher, 1/2 point bonus for ranked team, etc. This is on the fly, but I'm sure that there could be some type of calculation formulated that would be better. Check out 'new plan' thread http://www.coacht.com/tennessee/boards/viewtopic.php?f=77&t=202245 and 'how would you seed?' thread. http://www.coacht.com/tennessee/boards/viewtopic.php?f=77&t=202156 Formula is pretty simple: A win is worth (100+# wins of opponent) + (-20 for each class lower than your or +20 for each class higher) + 5 times wins of opponent whether you won or loss + 2 times wins of opponent whether you win or lose if same class or higher. eers
In order for that to work we will have to wait a year or get rid of the contracts that are in place. That will probably not happen, so we need to tweek it for next year and then get a new system. The only problem with this... Who will Alcoa play? 134 points is all you get for beating them (assuming they are a lower classification and win their other nine games). This means that you get more points for a win over 5-5 5a/6a team. I said Alcoa, but that is just an example. The good lower classification teams will have a real difficulty getting teams to play them.

eers
I understand that, but the better teams will still have problems, as the mediocre teams in the same classification wouldn't want to play them either. Elite and bottom feeders will have some scheduling issues, otherwise... It looks workable.
GetRidofSystem
My Athletic Director tried to email my ideas to Mr Mathis and it appears the email address is not valid? Jerry Mathis-Tullahoma High School mathisJ@k12tn.net ??? His e-mail address was not posted on the school website. I will do some researching. From what I have been told, Mathis couldn't give two &*#$^ about football. Why wouldn't he be in a uproar about Tullahoma not making the playoffs and Shelbyville did? He never once commented on that. HE stands by the Z plan. That's why the principals of the area that he represents needs to tell him they will find someone new next time he will be up for election. A total overhaul can be done if it is put to vote on the 19th. Therefore, with new allignment the previous contracts would become null & void. Nobody on that board has any balls to do it anyway. In a perfect world, TSSAA would realize 4 classes for 305 teams is plenty. Being 1 of 75 is a lot more impressive than being 1 of 41 (current 1a and 2a) with 8 regions in it and just put 4-1,3-2,2-3,1-4 of adjoining regions (like the good old days, like LAST YEAR)
