 Like a good old southern gentleman, I'm just going to go lean over by the goal post and sigh. It has been a season that ends just a little too soon for the natives I suppose. I like these kids, the frustration of trying to get it right, and truthfully a somewhat depleated roster that kept trying to overcome some losses in personnal. Oh I'm not blaming the loss on those things, the kids that remained gave a pretty valant effort, and Rockwood made the plays to win it. Houston Hood left it all on the field......from where I sat his effort should be noted. He threw an interception and ran 30 yards to nail the guy that he threw it to. That says PLAYER, in my book! That tank Rockwood has at fullback (#25) was a load to bring down. Hampton or TP will get a handful of him if the OC at Rockwood is as smart as I think he is. Lambert's Defense managed to keep Oneida in the game and even gave us a chance with the amount of turnovers it created. Lets see 3 interceptions and a fumble recovery should have given us enough chances to close this one out. I'm interested to see what everyone else thought of this one.....so I'll just read them as they come. Congrats to the Rockwood Tigers.....a tremendous victory for your team. Hope your coach doesn't get sore on the long walk home. :hungry:Hate it when Jesse Smithey calls one right.

Kaz I think these 2 teams will meet may more times in the playoffs! turnovers has been a problem for the Tigers all year :( they seem to loose the ball on 2nd and 3rd efforts I can't fault them for that. Wish I could have been there tonight to meet you guys but had to work. OHS and RHS=PCC. Coach Webb is tuff with a captial T he will make it

One thing I'd like to ask #30......did that ball you had actually get trapped or was it clean? Now don't get your gander up, but I believe an instant replay would have overturned that "catch". I'm sure this comment doesn't sound very sporting of me, but the point of that ball did touch the ground. :hungry: You boys finished that drive in fine fashion, and you should be commended for your win. It was ruled a catch, so boo on me. I would have wondered what would have transpired with 4th and 12. Probably OT, but we'll never know. Just a thought.

The wait is almost over. Another day closer. Taking off work early to make the trek up HWY 27 to Oneida. Like to watch both teams warm up and take in some cool mountain air. Also got to stop and grab a bite to eat. Think I'm going with the steakhouse, I might save the mexican place for a post game celebratory snack!!!

GOOOOOOOO TIGERS!!!!!!!!!!!!

Rockwood 21

Oneida 20

:thumb:

Well boys......I was pretty close on the score for 2 weeks in a row.

For Oneida--too many lost opportunities in the first half.....inside the tigers 10 yd line 3 times, and only 7 points......Could have easily been 21-0 at halftime......IMO--looked like one of the negative effects of an off-week in HS football....little flat

For Rockwood--able to survive the 1st half mistakes that were made and still in the ballgame.....came out in second half and played much better.

Go Tigers........gotta long, long, drive next week.

P.S.--Nachos were awesome for that post celebratory snack!!!!!

    • They’ve both gotten worse. I’ve seen enough games to know that.
    • The only two transfers that Bearden has gotten that went on to play college football were a defensive back from Karnes, who transferred here way before the new coaching staff got here, and a running back from Carter, who went on to play at Maryville College. Both players received those offers while at Bearden, and both players got a diploma from Bearden High School. Therefore, they are Bearden kids, and you can’t do anything about that.   The transfer from Seymour didn’t win the job, what do you expect two quarterbacks to start at the same time? He played great on JV when he could stay healthy, and when he came in on varsity, he did great. The quarterback position is definitely going to be in good hands when the current starting quarterback leaves, but until then, they’re just going to be battling it out like every good quarterback competition does. The current starting quarterback has his flaws, and that is in the pass game, but what he doesn’t have flaws is running and scrambling, and if you go back and watch any game, which I’m sure you didn’t watch any, we used him very often, and when we needed a deep ball, we brought in the transfer from Seymour. The starting quarterback last year will be a senior this year, and the Seymour transfer will be a junior, so the Seymour transfer is definitely going to get his spotlight. He may even win the job this year. Football isn’t about who the newspaper thinks is the best kid. The best kid in the position will win the starting job, and I trust the coaching staff more than a newspaper or article to pick my starting QB.
    • I mean, we’ve only gotten two transfers that went on to play college football, one who went to UT Martin came his second semester junior year before the new coaching staff was here, and the other one went on to play at Maryville College, in which I don’t believe he had any interest prior to transferring.
    • An FYI: To see how an opponent has done against another opponent since 2001- go to the game by clicking on one of the teams. Click the G beside the game. For example, Milan: The info will show you the previous matchups and other info.
    • All these college signees went yo other schools for 3 years, were getting college offers then transferred to Bearden. It’s not like this staff did much to develop them.    The BBall coaches son and the Seymour transfer were some of the most talented QBs in the region, and you guys developed them into QBs who might complete one pass a game.
