Bradford fans....help me out, please.

There seems to be a boys coach in Henry County from what I hear who does this. No, it is not worth it.

 

I disagree....He is in the business of building a program that is capable of contending for a state title. The problem in Paris is: Football is King right now....some of the best athletes do not want to play both sports, and work hard to get better.

I don't quite understand this comment. What are you saying about the Boys coach at HC? Isn't winning why programs hire coaches? Our last football coach at HC before Gaddis,was given the pink slip because he didn't win. HC's Mens Coach wants to win and puts alot of time and effort into his team. People that talk about generally have an axe to grind because their son is not getting the playing time they think they deserve. No one is perfect, but these kind of comments by you are unfounded unless you know him personally. Henry Co. has won its share of games since he's been here.

That Bradford team was alot like your Union City Boys team, MJ Brown's senior year. They didnt need a coach, the coach was on the floor and he also won Mr. Basketball.

 

That team consisted of: Jessica Henson (Union All American - Miss Basketball), Jennifer Henson (Union two time National Champion), Jenny Lannom (Miss Basketball - Played at UTM), Danielle Page (Played at UTM), Golden, and oh yeah - a freshman Meridith Richardson (2 time Miss Basketball). These girls had all been raised by David Russell and had played on the 98 state championship team and some on the 97 team that won state -------Wild had to have some talent, but not much with this crew....class A dream team.

 

Agree with Movinonup - look what happened a couple years down the road. It was hard to see how down Bradford basketball got after 21 years of glory. Sorry, don't buy that the talent suddenly dried up after that period of time.

 

The team was very talented (but Richardson was an 8th grader on the undefeated team). Coach Wild was and is a very good coach. Few are better. The problem was not him. It was Bradford and that he wasn't Coach Russell. He didn't alienate the people, someone associated with him did and the people of Bradford alienated him because of this.

The team that followed Wild played for and lost the district championship. They won a region game and lost to Trenton in region semis - the same Trenton team that went on to win 2 titles in 4 years.

If you don't buy that the talent was gone, name 1 player other than Richardson that you would say was a talented player there. Coach Hampton had 2-time Miss Basketball and ? The middle school was very good at the time which resulted in a return to the state tournament a couple of years ago but while Richardson was in high school, name 1 complementary player. Opinions are like elbows, everyone has them but don't disregard the facts.
