The State Of Tenn. High Viking Football

Let's see were to begin...I know I'm gonna get flamed for starting this thread..but I'm just stating what others are thinking... just not enough Nads to say it. so i really could care less.

Games are won and lost Mon-Thurs. they just happen to be played on Fri.

Friday nights game was lost during the week leading up to the game..LACK OF SCHEMING(same Ole, same Ole as if Jenkins couldn't figure it out to stop it.. well hello.. he did.. not a surprise to me.. but to somebody it was) very good coach. No plan B, No blocking back?( all week to work 48 back in at fullback at least in short yardage),No runs out of the Shotgun? (we did it last year? we made ourself one dimensional), Questionable play calling in key situations?(10-7 start of the 2nd half ball at the Boone 40 3rd and 1 and we call a counter and lose 3-4yrds.. power it,sneak it just "GET THE FREAKING YARD" ;) you got 2 downs to make a yard) and most of all we gave up on the run after only 7 carries..26 passes ....7 carries ..seems to me someone just panicked when we were down by only.. what 3 points at half..and 2 in the 4th and the game was called as if we were down 21 points.

Boone changed up to a cover 2 on long yardage and when we were in the gun...well this ain't rocket science..every football mind knows you beat a cover 2 behind the mike and between the safety's right smack dab right down the middle..we threw two passes that i remember there and completed 1 to Downs and barley over threw Howard on the other ..it was there all night. 6:00 min to go in the game on our own 25-30 can't remember exactly..I was feeling pretty good, because the short stuff was there the 5-10 yards routes i mean..what happens.. medium to long incompletion's 3 of them(I,m not blasting Taylor by any means ..he was just executing what was sent in)matter of the fact all the kids played there guts out.. that was one of the bright spots.

Some will say 11-1 is a very good season and it is..but is that the ultimate goal? As someone once told me a few years ago we are spoiled..Central or East or Volunteer would have been ecstatic to have had our season. That maybe true but is it so wrong to expect to win. And when most of those kids knew that something special was in there grasp ...could almost taste it, almost reach it then POOF! it was gone forever.. a once in a lifetime chance for most of these kids..gone.15-0 was what they knew they could accomplish and why did this happen..well if you have read this far you know why. I'm not on a head hunting mission.. I have no horse in this race except my 8 bucks and my Viking pride..but i will say this.. we need to get better from the inside out to ever compete at a state level. After the 07 debacle i thought well.. we will learn from that.. but evidently and sadly that has not happened and these young men paid that bitter price and deserved a better end than this. Not to take anything away from Boone there coach had his X-Os in order and they played a great game that team has allot of heart, my hats off to them. But there are two sides to every story. So with that said "FLAME SUIT ON" :roflol: I know some will come on here and say "its only a game"....is over.. it don,t matter anymore..well i say to you.. go tell those young men that. PS:Now I know how D-B feels

"It takes a loss to taste the sweetness of victory" is a sign now hanging up next to Boone's field house. I have no idea what it is like to win everything then lose once and go home. I think TN High is in fine shape...but I think you all were not as good as you thought you were. No, I am not saying you were bad, I am saying that you didn't think you could lose to anyone but while you were riding high....other teams were getting better. All it took was a good game plan and personnel that could get the job done. This long doing the same thing did hurt you...but can you blame it when it was working for 11 weeks straight.

I think TN High is in good shape....maybe some humility from certain fans but hey that is every program including my own. Better luck next year.

You don't know how DB feels. You were still playing when they were sitting at home. One and done, one and done!!!

He don't know how South feels. With that 17 year losing streak to DB and all. :o

I smell my wife. :o

Get out once in awhile, whackoff. Try to learn something new. Good luck with Maryville in the future. :roflolk:

I'm not like you. I don't get riled up over a comment on a message board. Good try though. I could have sworn South has a game this Friday and DB doesn't. Anyway, I'm done with you. You're no competition and I don't want to ruin this thread. Come on out Friday night and give South your $4. I know you don't have any other game to go to. :D

 If you were not "riled" up you wouldn't be responding. Competition? :thumb: I own you so I will say when your done with me.

As far as you ruining this thread your to late, you already did with your first post chump. You just couldn't leave DB out of it.

Here's something for you to chew on today..........17 years and counting!

44-0

You're wrong formerblazer...the Vikings were as good as they thought they were. But on one Friday night you just so happened to be better than you thought you were. Says alot for NET you know.

Thank you sir. I know the Vikings were good...I just think they peaked way too early and that was a very high peak to....peak....at....anyway. Boone has played the tough teams close and beat who they were supposed to beat by a good margin. The TN High game was good for the Blazers because they got whooped, didn't like it....but they got better because of it. I think TN High needs to keep getting better each week...and it was hard to see if they were or not because they just whooped everyone throughout the year. Just a comment sir... in my opinion I have seen better TN High teams, but this team you had this year was without a doubt awesome.

    • They’ve both gotten worse. I’ve seen enough games to know that.
    • The only two transfers that Bearden has gotten that went on to play college football were a defensive back from Karnes, who transferred here way before the new coaching staff got here, and a running back from Carter, who went on to play at Maryville College. Both players received those offers while at Bearden, and both players got a diploma from Bearden High School. Therefore, they are Bearden kids, and you can’t do anything about that.   The transfer from Seymour didn’t win the job, what do you expect two quarterbacks to start at the same time? He played great on JV when he could stay healthy, and when he came in on varsity, he did great. The quarterback position is definitely going to be in good hands when the current starting quarterback leaves, but until then, they’re just going to be battling it out like every good quarterback competition does. The current starting quarterback has his flaws, and that is in the pass game, but what he doesn’t have flaws is running and scrambling, and if you go back and watch any game, which I’m sure you didn’t watch any, we used him very often, and when we needed a deep ball, we brought in the transfer from Seymour. The starting quarterback last year will be a senior this year, and the Seymour transfer will be a junior, so the Seymour transfer is definitely going to get his spotlight. He may even win the job this year. Football isn’t about who the newspaper thinks is the best kid. The best kid in the position will win the starting job, and I trust the coaching staff more than a newspaper or article to pick my starting QB.
    • I mean, we’ve only gotten two transfers that went on to play college football, one who went to UT Martin came his second semester junior year before the new coaching staff was here, and the other one went on to play at Maryville College, in which I don’t believe he had any interest prior to transferring.
    • An FYI: To see how an opponent has done against another opponent since 2001- go to the game by clicking on one of the teams. Click the G beside the game. For example, Milan: The info will show you the previous matchups and other info.
    • All these college signees went yo other schools for 3 years, were getting college offers then transferred to Bearden. It’s not like this staff did much to develop them.    The BBall coaches son and the Seymour transfer were some of the most talented QBs in the region, and you guys developed them into QBs who might complete one pass a game.
