Can we talk about JJ for a moment. Please explain to me why this kid is not being utylized. Is it his physical ability? Is it his lack of control? Or is he just resisting the whole Stacy Carter mentality. This kid is strong and not slow. And I believe it is safe to say he has the killer instinct. I see him at Fullback. And I see him at MLB. And in all honesty, I see him as Heath's backup. He may be a problem child but when I talk to him I see a model of respectability. He is yes sir and no sir with me. I see a world of potential that I personally would not let go. We lost one super three sport athlete 3 years ago to a lack of vision in the young man and I'd hate to see that repeated.

I thought like you when I read Volman referring to Coach Jenkins as JJ. We are so clued in to our own JJ and his potential. Trust the coaches.JJ is enrolled in the process. He will emerge next season. Fruit ripens in its own time. This harvest will begin with Knox West.

Yes CD, I was referring to Coach Jenkins. Sorry for the confusion. I, like you, thought it was comical right before half when Boone had the panic attack.

Now, as for our JJ, CD is correct. Well, Comp you are correct too. JJ is a yes sir no sir kinda kid off the field/court. But, as you've probably seen, when he is on the field/court, well, I don't know what to say. I'll just leave it at this, he needs to mature. I'm glad SC is teaching him some life lessons. Hopefully it will sink in and I think it will. Several coaches are to blame for this. Should have been addressed years ago. Like you said though, if it doesn't work out, it'll be a shame.

I wasn't confused. I didn't misunderstand your post about Coach Jenkins...it just got me to thinking about Jason. He comes by work and sees me at night and I know his Daddy...and I just...well you know how I feel. I love Stacy to death but Hunter has some fine abilities that just aren't going to be utylized until he is on his own. I mean I know John and I played ball with his Daddy and you played against us and they are all fine men...but I feel the OC job needs to go to Hunter.

Good luck Columbia Central. Good luck Sullivan County. Win, loose or draw, you all are on elite teams and will remember this for the rest of your lives. Congragulations on jobs well done and making it this far. Prayers that your careers are injury free from this point forward and for your safe trip to Columbia and return.

Thanks BobBBucks. FYI the team you are playing is from Sullivan County which has 6 high schools. Kingsport Dobyns-Bennett (city) Bristol Tennessee High (city) and 4 county schools Sullivan North,Sullivan Central, Sullivan East, and the team you will play, Sullivan South. We hope your coaching staff is equally misinformed about your coming opponent.

"Hopefully it will sink in and I think it will. Several coaches are to blame for this. Should have been addressed years ago. Like you said though, if it doesn't work out, it'll be a shame." quote from volman

Trust me on this. No coaches are to blame for JJ. His antics have continued no matter the discipline that has been handed out. He's been benched, suspended, ran to death, etc. He's been analyzed, psychologized, exorcised, and proselytized to no avail. His comrades think he is bipolar.

Anyway, he is a good kid off the field/court and will be an impact player. His full role, though, may depend on if/when he matures and will do what the coaches want.

Good Luck Rebels!! Let's take it to them Friday.

I am misinformed. I've didn't know where Sullivan County is. I didn't realize it was so populated, and didn't know the cities.

Either way, proud of both teams for making it so far.

Goff is definitly a load and is a strong downhill runner. (Even better at LB as was named the district MVP) The visitors side will be accommadating for 500.

I don't know how many kids he's knocked cold over the years, though it is no small number, but I know one got KO'd Friday night. Even with his hammy injured he's a beast. He'll often try to avoid folks while running, but he's knocked out DB's in the past while running over them. On defense, if he hits you head on, lights out. 5'10" 230lbs coupled w' speed when healthy.

Don't know of his hammy status, and it could be top secret. Did better last week than the week before.

    • Deja vu all over again, 7 yrs apart. SMDH Does anybody talk to each other?
    • OK, well, that’s because two quarterbacks can’t start. That’s football 101. The main quarterback won the starting job, so he was on varsity, and the Seymour transfer did not win the starting job. He played some varsity. He was mainly junior varsity, and he balled out when healthy, so for the starting quarterback who’s been starting varsity since his freshman year, if you have any form of proof that he’s gotten worse, somehow, whether that means stats or whatnot, please feel free to share.
    • They’ve both gotten worse. I’ve seen enough games to know that.
    • The only two transfers that Bearden has gotten that went on to play college football were a defensive back from Karnes, who transferred here way before the new coaching staff got here, and a running back from Carter, who went on to play at Maryville College. Both players received those offers while at Bearden, and both players got a diploma from Bearden High School. Therefore, they are Bearden kids, and you can’t do anything about that.   The transfer from Seymour didn’t win the job, what do you expect two quarterbacks to start at the same time? He played great on JV when he could stay healthy, and when he came in on varsity, he did great. The quarterback position is definitely going to be in good hands when the current starting quarterback leaves, but until then, they’re just going to be battling it out like every good quarterback competition does. The current starting quarterback has his flaws, and that is in the pass game, but what he doesn’t have flaws is running and scrambling, and if you go back and watch any game, which I’m sure you didn’t watch any, we used him very often, and when we needed a deep ball, we brought in the transfer from Seymour. The starting quarterback last year will be a senior this year, and the Seymour transfer will be a junior, so the Seymour transfer is definitely going to get his spotlight. He may even win the job this year. Football isn’t about who the newspaper thinks is the best kid. The best kid in the position will win the starting job, and I trust the coaching staff more than a newspaper or article to pick my starting QB.
    • I mean, we’ve only gotten two transfers that went on to play college football, one who went to UT Martin came his second semester junior year before the new coaching staff was here, and the other one went on to play at Maryville College, in which I don’t believe he had any interest prior to transferring.
