The local radio station is reporting Jerry Joslyn and Mac McCurry have applied for the job. Why would these two men apply for a job that pays less than the positions they currently hold? Scott Smith has been rumored to be the front runner and several sources said he was offered the job so why would these two veteran coaches jump into the fray?

joshlin from cookville has applied and he would be great.he has a great reputation and has built a great program at cookville/so far this is the best choice by far including the famous MAC MCCURRY

I do not know for certain but i do not even think smith has interviewed for the head coaching position at Franklin County.

Don't expect a new coach to be announced until after January 15th, that is the final day for submitting applications. According to Jan Tavalin of WCDT radio, 24 applications have been received, some of the names mentioned were FCHS assistants Winston, Carr, Brewer, South Middle School coach Kermit Reed, Ripley MS coach Mac McCurry( FCHS grad and former Moore Co. Coach), Eagleville coach Steve Carson, Moore Co. coach Steve Matthews, Scott Smith former Science Hill coach, who guided Ezell Harding to a state championship in 2000.

I really hate to break it to you, but there is NO way Coach Joslin will be going to FC. First off he would have to take a heck of a pay CUT to go there. Second there is still a chance he will get the promised INDOOR FACILITY at Cookeville.

 

Of the others mentioned I do not see the Middle School coach or ANY of the assistants getting it. Carson and Mattews wants it because it is a move up in classification for them. McCurry wants it because it is his old school he played for and maybe homesick. Scott Smith wants it or ANY other spot back in middle Tn.

 

I do agree that this and any other open slots will not be filled until after the middle of Janurary.
