I'm definitely biased on this, but Brad Merritt has shown me just too many astonishing plays over the last three years for me to consider anybody else as better.

Just last Friday he made some fantastic catches against Morristown West that you simply don't see too much from high schoolers. He's playing like a college player right now.

Brad's the real deal. His only knock is his size (he's about 5'10") but he should still contribute greatly to some Divison I-AA school somewhere when he graduates.

He's also got a great, great personality. I could see how he would be able to fire up any team just with his words or actions. He's also one of the nicest players I know on the team. A smart kid. Despite criticism about his "ego" I don't think he really has one. He's just confident of his abilities and I think with good reason! ;)

Jacob Brown from Farragut is the best reciever in all of east tennessee, and possibly the best in the state. You people that say Bowman is better, just remember this. NOTRE DAME DOESN'T PLAY ANYBODY!!! :D

First of all, when you say Brown benches 250 and weighs 205. Yea, Bowman benched 300 and weighs 215 and he also high jumped 7'0", can Brown do that? Bowman ran a 4.5 at one of the most prestegious high school camps in the country, was Brown even envited? Bowman put 300 yards and 5 tds on maybe the best overall team in the state last year, has Brown posted those numbers through the first 4 games? And, also you say Brown has a better QB....yes he does and this is one of the mains reasons he is good. Bowman is good with a very inexperienced QB.

Jacob Brown and Adarius Bowman are both unbelievable recievers, and both are hands down better than this Merit guy, even if he is pretty good. Jacob is a rock physically, fast as anything, and smart about how he plays, but the fact still remainns that someone with Bowman's size and freakish athletic ability comes around hardly ever. Both will be big time receivers at the next level.

Oh and P.S., the critics say what has Jacob done in past seasons? Last year he didn't have a QB who could even get close to getting him the ball. Now with a QB that can, just watch what Jacob Brown can do.

Jacob Brown has made so many plays for his team to keep his team in games and eventually win them. After five games(4-1,2-0) he has 7 tds and plenty of yards well over a 100 av per game. Our qb just makes a good job of putting the ball in the area and Brown literally makes the play on his own. He is definitely the MVP of his team.

    • And can you tell me who those two quarterbacks were, and every kid that was put into college from Bearden is a Bearden kid? It’s kind of why they graduated from Bearden.   and I would definitely not consider ETSU “waste”…
    • Most of this is complete gibberish. But the one part I could decipher is putting kids in college. This coaching staff hasn’t put a single Bearden kid in college. They completed wasted one of the best WRs in East TN and have ruined two talented QBs. All because they’re in over their heads.
    • Well, I’d hope the new coaching staff thinks they are all that because they can always walk around the school, anytime they want, thinking that, especially for what they’ve done for the student athletes and the players, putting more kids in college in his first season than the old coaching staff did in numerous years combined, but we will just sweep over that because I know you don’t like facts. But trust me, nobody wanted Mr. Big britches, made the star player switch to quarterback, which is ultimately the reason he ended up transferring to play the position. He loved, but unfortunately, had to be at another school because Mr. Big Britches doesn’t like when a teenager knows more than him, but can’t expect much coming from a guy who used all class throwing pencils up into the ceiling and making fun of football kids who were failing class right to their face, and in front of numerous students, even projecting on the board most of the time.
    • After that first paragraph, I can see why you’re a TA and not a teacher. Have you made the move from South Knoxville to Bearden yet?    Maybe he left because he is an actual teacher and coach, and didn’t want to be associated with a group of foul mouthed middle school coaches who like to pretend they’re big time.
    • Yeah and the coach is gone. Whole bizarre situation here. We played them a couple of times at MTSU last few years. She was a player for sure.
