Best names in State Tourny

I remember when the state was in Chatt. the paper would list an all tournament team according to the wrestlers last name. Exactly what there name was or represented like one of ours made it "Bull". So come some one with more time than me search and list those names worth of ALL TOURNY TEAM OF NAMES.

the Chattanooga writer in the 1990s who compiled the all name teams is Paul Schulz who wrote for the Chattanooga Free Press.

 

I also covered the state for the FP and did an all names team on occasion.

 

Paul is most likely THE BEST wrestling writer in the past 50 years. his notes and coverage were second to none. in 1976, he won the highest national award given to a writer covering wrestling.

Off the top of my head...around here,"TURBO" SMITH(soddy)-"GOOSE" MANNING(ooltewah)-TYLER "TOON"(ooltewah),not sure on this one Jimmy "PURKY"(ooltewah),"CHAZ" ANDERSON(central),....I'll look around find some more.

and from the past .. state champs

 

from A (Andy Alisago, '87) to Z (Justin Zapp, '92) there are some great names

 

a couple of classic ones

 

Shazzon Bradley (McMinn Co.) and Sterling Featherstone (Brainerd) both state champs.

 

and with the tournament in the South, you must have a Bubba or two.

and even a basketball guy made it ... Dean Smith (Hixson, '73) and Johnny Logan (Notre Dame, '73 - Milwaukee Braves shortstop in late 50s)

It is just a listing of kids who have unique names that make it to the state tournament. You never read the paper all those years you brought teams to Chatt. for the state tourny?
