Nope Hooper wasn't coaching then. Last year was his first year back since 2005. He was Couey's assistant and JV head coach and he went undefeated. Check your facts before you bash the guy! :thumb:

hooper didnt go undefeated in 04-05 Blackman won the county tournament that year central got put out by Rock springs

I don't think he was coaching then but if he was he would have been the girls coach. He only helped Couey for one year.

This is all the fact i need to know about Hooper: I had the pleasure of watching Tae Martin, Robert Brandon, and Damien Clark play all season at Siegel as freshmen. You could tell that they were way better players at the end of the season than they were at the beginning. The silly mistakes that they were making at the beginning of the year were not there at the end of the season. And by silly I mean doing things that they should have been taught not to do in middle school but obviously weren't. Now wether it was them adjusting to the high school level or it was someone teaching them the right way to play basketball, I dont know. But they were a lot better at the end of the season than they were at the beginning.

you are right he was coaching girls that year, iM not sure who the jv coach was. I think Hooper will do just fine whether he is at Lavergne or WB

Does anyone think that there are any young coaches in the county coaching youth school teams that may need to move on up as assistants for Middle or Highschool.

To me Don Whitmore at North Field comes to mind. He one the cityschools championship last year and played for it the year before and almost won with less talent. He has also coached the last 2 yrs in AAU and his kids played very well. He also has twin boys in the 6th grade who will probably have all the tools to be great ball players. Along with him (if you think he should) is there anyone else??

Does he want to be an assistant at the middle school level. Im sure there probably are some city league coaches who could and should move up just like there are probably some middle school coaches who could and should move up as well.

Eric Bonner from Scales has coached for years, both boys and girls, and would be an asset to any team but Rutherford County won't let EA's help coach anymore! That's why he stays in the city league.

he could still coach in the county as a volunteer since he is not an EA in the county system

That's true. As long as he stays in the city schools he could still volunteer but if he moved to the county system he couldn't! That seems crazy to me.He's a great coach. In my opinion.

agreed that is a strange rule. They have it set up so EA's cant try to come back and get overtime pay for coaching. you think thye could just have them either a) sign a waiver saying they wont try to come back and get back pay later or just pay them a flat rateregardless of what their base pay is

      Im asking everyone to keep roy whited and his family in your prayers. Coach whited won back to back state championships at white county in 98-99. He is very well liked and respected in this area. For those of you that dont know he went missing 3 days ago. No one knows where he is. His truck was found in a rural part of the county. Thanks again. We are all very concerned.

      West would be a good team to get behind if they can pull it off again like last year. That championship game last year was awesome.

      I say that because he stepped out of a MUCH better situation on his own than he would see at least his first 3 years at DCA and it would take at least that much to bring him back to coaching. There are other fish in the sea, but again money talks. Need to fix the girls hoops too. Now I'll try again. Who has Pierce locked in for his staff? Hearing a McGavock man but not the Iceman.

      I’ve heard mostly good things from the gridiron. Lots of optimism. It sounds like the portal has mostly helped, though there are a few expected defections. Comeback year!

      Rudesell 1 year at Crockett. Coach Tate 2 weeks a Bradford. South Gibson supposedly going with jcs middle school coach. Which isn’t who I thought would get it, I know the top 2 was between him and Obion girls head coach.
