Portland Beat knox west tonight 2-0, I dont know if this will change anyones predictions or not just informing everyone. I dont have details on the game yet so if anyone has any let me know. thanks.

Dude, That would be pretty hard to lose a game you didn't play......Knox West played Heritage and would beat Portland if they played them BUT THEY DIDN'T ....... You were wrong here

My Prediction

Bearden 3=2 over West ,

The only legendary thing that I have done is beat you (quite handily I might add) at the scoring contest this summer on our Coach T'ers team.

And don't go whining about your knee being blown out because you tripped over the 18 yard box...

YOU REALLY WENT THERE!!!!!! For the record, the sniper didn't get me until I was in the box, so more like the PK line. But this thread is about BHS and West, so I will return to the subject. Def. gonna try and catch both games tomorrow night and wish everyone involved a great match and to come out healthy.

Portland played West's VR squad, and they did win 2-0. I missed getting to see the game, but I understand from other fans that the West boys bucked up and hung with them after going down 2-0 early. Looking forward to the Knoxville JV/VR spring tournament soon so that we can see all of the "up-and-comers" play each other.

West Varsity squad played Heritage and won 5-0. Nothing to write home about. Everybody got to play, nobody will be too tired or banged up tonight.

I see this being a very tough game with neither team having a clear cut edge. Bearden is extremely organized on defense, and they do a solid job eliminating any sort of creativity by even the most inventive attacks. Their back three take few chances going forward and are excellent at congesting the middle. To accompany the back line, Patrick Harmoney enjoys sweeping up the hole to assist in negating any sort of space for opponents.

West has some very talented attackers (namely Tanner and Jack), but Bearden's defense is so organized that I expect them to be fully prepared for a predictable attack. Yes, Jack is excellent one vs. one, but Seth Williams is an exceptional defender as well, and I believe that by playing together at KFC, Jack has inadvertently revealed some of his attacking proclivities to Seth--after all, Seth had little trouble containing Jack in both match ups last year. Yes, West will unleash Tanner's patent sling shot, but I suspect Turner has spent nearly the entire week looking for ways to dodge these bullets.

In the end, I think West's offensive arsenal will get caught up one too many times, and Bearden will eventually catch them in transition. Look for West to win both possession and the shot count but Bearden to win the game by a goal. Good luck to both sides. Can't wait to watch two of the best teams in the state!

West's keeper injured in the first few minutes, he was wearing a sling at the end of the game. Hope he gets better, great game by both teams. Bearden just dominated the second half, Thompson did a great job at goal. However, at the last 30 seconds on a West free kick, Thompson (who was playing keeper) got in to Bearden's box, leaving the goal to be defended by a lone defender. When Bearden denied any chance at a last second goal, on the counter attack they were called offsides, but that defender was still at their goal. Oh well, 2-0 is still a dominating performance by the dogs. Again, hope Bogie gets well!

    • Well nothing new, the Mustangs are really talented again this coming season!  They very well could go undefeated in regular season.  We shall see what happens in postseason.  I think the path to state title game is a little clearer than years past.  I think the Stangs are going to be really good and I think the traditional teams around in 2A are not going to be as strong.  It should be a fun season!
    • I would not put too much stock into the UH over Eagleville. From what I understand they were pretty banged up in that tourney. Catcher was out, they were throwing pretty deep in their bullpen and a few key players were beat up in their infield. Sounds like they are pretty healthy heading into the district tournament. Look at their schedule, they played some really good teams.
