Hannah Hogan's Ascendancy Continues On The Mound for CA.

Columbia Academy's hurler Hannah Hogan continues to make a name for herself. Thursday night Hogan beat county & district foe Mt Pleasant 6-0. The senior struckout 15 Lady Tiger batters on her way to the third shutout for the week.

 

Monday she beat Marshall County 3-0 and Tuesday Santa Fe 19-0. For the week Hogan fanned 39 batters in the three games. She is now standing at 250 K's for the year and 953 for her career at Columbia Academy.

 

Thursday night Hogan not only was a force on the mound she delivered two hits in the game. A double in the first scoring Merri Ann Patterson and Lauren Bradley. And a single in the third plating Bradley once again. Hannah Hogan was 2-3 with 3RBI's aiding her own cause.

 

CA got on the scoreboard again in the fourth and sixth innings. In the 4th Hope Hogan singles to lead off and scored later in the frame off a single by Patterson.

 

In the 6th Patterson did more damage. The stellar freshman smashed her third homer of the year over the left field fence. The CA catcher led the way for the Lady Dawgs going 3-4, 2RBI's and two-runs.

 

Senior first baseman Callie Still was 2-3.

 

Hogan, an UAH signee, recorded her 23rd win of the season against five losses. She scattered four hits in the game to Macy Davis (2-3), Kristen Davis (1-3), Marley Davis (1-3).

 

The three seniors on the team, Hannah and Hope Hogan and Callie Still were honored before the game and a special ceremony was held following the contest with a dinner for supporters.

 

The Lady Dawgs play a doubleheader Friday with one game against Page the other Vs Santa Fe.

CA won 6-0... Hogan struck out 10 of the first 11 Lady Tiger batters.... Struck out 12-14 total, I lost count....

Congrats to Hannah. I remember seeing her as a freshman with the two black eyes and battleing thru it. Knew then she'd be tough. She is a good example of someone who took some lumps as young high school pitcher but continued to work hard and get better.

I don't get a chance to watch much softball but has this girl committed anywhere to college and how does she compare to Cornersville's Fagan. I know they split this year.

The report mentioned Alabama-Huntsville. Before anyone makes an issue of the level (and you know someone would), UAH is an outstanding Division II program, currently ranked 2nd in the Division II south region.

They are an outstanding softball school, I totally agree. I really hate they way people judge a player's ability by whether they go Division I or whatever. There have been so many athletes that choose a school based on whether it will look good in the papers or to their hometown, when what they need to do is find the best fit for them. I personally know girls that have taken a D II or NAIA over DI jus because they want a better learning environment. You never want to be the one of the ones that choose a DI only to realize that its not the place for you and transfer somewhere else. Its not about bragging rights its about getting an education while playing a sport you love. There is definitely no shame in UAH..Good Luck Hannah!
