i think brentwood high will definatly be state contender. i think father ryan will win it this year but GPS and Baylor will also be pretty good. dickson county should be pretty good also even though they lost their pitcher. and i agree with you sballplaya030, haha i have never heard of watertown either.

Every year there seems to be a few teams to make it to state that surprises people, and every year there seems to be a few teams that don't make it that most people who are in the know thought would be there. Preseason picks are fun to speculate about, but the season is long and a lot can happen (good and bad) between now and the state playoffs. A good starting point is to look at which teams played in the regional semi finals last season. A high percentage of these teams will be in the running this year as well. Teams that were on the fringe last season are also legitimate choices. Certainly, there are some Cinderella teams out there as well, who at this point would have to be darkhorse contenders at best. Fast pitch softball is fun and entertaining. Fan appreciation for the support is on the rise. Good luck to all the teams and their coaches. Who knows? This could be YOUR year!!

Its so early to tell what anyone will have - there is so much young talent this year that nobody knows where anyone stands. I agree with Neil... that a lot can happen between now and the end of may. But i think definatly, Goodpasture, beech, davidson, dickson, giles, father ryan, both brentwoods, david lipscomb and hunters lane will all be teams from midstate that will have an appearance in memphis this year.

Keep an eye on the Maryville High Shool Lady Rebels. They were on bad inning away from a State Championship last year. They will be back.

The 2003 Gibbs Eagles will have a say so at this years State Tounament. They were young last year with 4 freshmen starters and two sophmores. This year with Coach Mitchell's guidance they will recapture their championship run. Gibbs Eagles in 2003
