What a route...............

Okay it was not a rout but a wash and darn good football game from both sides. I wish people would be honest and stop trying to bash teams. This is a friendly chat and should remain. The kids are giving all they got andd should be respected for that. Remember at the end of the season it will be only one team that call themselves champions, but all the kids are winners for their tireless effort. Yes I'm a BGA fan and dad to the Smiths boys and I can honestly say. I'm proud of my boys and all the student athletes. Go Wildcats beat Marshall County.

Mmm, you may be correct, but the same can be said with a lot of teams, 1 or 2 good players missing, and it really creates a much different team. Let's definitely not hope for injuries or anything to any of these young guys, and I know neither of us are saying that, but even with you all's numbers, depth can become an issue very quickly if a key cog or two is missing or banged up a little. Thanks for the congrats though. I really think you mean it.:) Same to you guys, but I thought you all would handle Tully pretty easily. They are much improved though. This is TG, by the way, waited a whole legal year to get back on this thing, but I often read your posts. Hope both our teams can stay healthy and continue to put up "W's". Man, Sat. was one of the most memorable nights in my life, and I know you know what I mean...

I know who you are, and yes I meant it. As I told #6 miss you guys and miss you on the the hill. It's always good to see you kids competing and even better to see them come out with the W. Best of luck, hope we get to see yall play at some point during the season. :popcorneater:

Well I guess I must admit that the running game was down without Dye or Miller. There was not too many holes to run through anyways. We got to get better blocking. Matt was great at QB and he hit David (TE) and Riley(WR) with several passes. We had way too many dropped balls. If we catch the dropped balls then look out, the game would have been a whole different story. The Rebel D played great except for one play. All in all it was a good football game.

One thing to think about. The late hit out of bounds was the worst call ever and then the flag on our sideline for responding to such a TERRIBLE call. Those yards all hurt us in the end.

Keep working Rebels. On to game two. The Rebels will be just fine.

You really need to see the replay before commenting worst call you have ever seen. I just watched the replay and it was the correct call. The initial hit was in bounds and clean but number 32 for Franklin continued and slammed the QB down 5 yards out of bounds. It was not a TERRIBLE call...it was the right call.

To me this was a magical night because two of the greatest coaches in my eyes were assembled back together on this field, Marty Euverard and Donnie Webb. The last time these guys were together, there was a state championship trophy in their hands for Oakland High School. The love and respect between these two men is clearly evident even after being seperated for many yrs and on opposite sides of the field. I have to admit, I shed a tear or two at this game watching them last night back together and re-living the memories of them coaching my son at OHS. I hope that the folk at BGA realize the effect that these men will have on your children now and in the future. The look on Marty's face was priceless as the horn sounded.

Franklin went into this game as the clear favorite and that is the kind of situation Marty U likes to be in ...as the underdog. The weather was clearly a factor at first causing a delay and leading to some cramping. It made both teams have slow starts and difficulty getting into a rhythmn. I was sort of stunned to see the passing for BGA and folk from Oldschool OHS know why. That Blake Thompson for BGA is a stud and I cannot for the life of me understand why he didn't walk out with the Def. Player of the Game instead of the kid from Franklin. Thompson's INT saved the game plain and simple. Franklin had a chance to take it down as they clearly had the momentum at that time and weariness for BGA's D was becoming a factor, but Thompson stepped up and sealed the deal. Not to mention his play on both sides of the ball all night long!! When Donnie came out in the 4-3 after the half, it seemed to confuse the Franklin players and caused them to fall apart. That's Donnie for you....a mastermind of the D. But Franklin began to adjust and get into scoring mode. The missed extra point was big and it seemed to give BGA back their fire as they were starting to wear down.

I am just so happy for BGA. I never thought I would ever in my life support a private school team, but these two men, Donnie and Marty are two of the finest men ever and I will be driving in to see this magic take place. CONGRATS to the Wildcats!

I appreciate your comments and could not agree more about the defensive player of the game award. The Franklin player who received the award had 3 solo tackles and an assist. He only had one tackle after the first quarter. Reed Loeffel for BGA was in on 17 tackles and Blake Thomson had 8 tackles, 2 pass break ups, a QB pressure on a key fourth down pass, and the interception at the end. One of those two players deserved the award. I would love to know who made this call and what game they watched. And by the way, those two players played both ways. Thomson having two receptions for first downs. He rarely came off the field. The players don't care because they won the game but give credit where credit is due.

Credit was given where it was due! Your offense could not move the ball all night and Dedrick was a part of that reason. I don't care how many tackles you say someone had if we don't drop the ball so much this game is not even close. (Besides I really doubt anyone was really in on 17 tackles) Let's move on to the Rebels next game! Before I leave this and go on, I do have to say one thing. I bet the BGA coaches are thanking their stars that so many balls were dropped by Franklin WR's. The final would have been something like 27 - 7 Rebels instead of the final that it was. Enough about this game. Still makes me sick!

Franklin should be glad to have Dederick because he was a BGA Wildcat last year. As well as one of their running backs. Give BGA the credit they won the game. We did not complain or moan last year when we should have won that game. Football is a tough sport get over it and move on.

Ok I don't know where you get your stats from but Dedrick Johnson, the player who won defensive player of the game honors, had way more than 4 tackles. BGA continued to attack his side and he continued to make plays at or behind the line of scrimmage. There was a reason Bass and the other BGA backs had absolutely no success running to his side all night. I also sincerely doubt that Loeffel guy had 17 tackles. If you want to count the times he jumped on a pile maybe, but then you have to bring Johnson's tackle total up to about 20. Thomson played well too, but please don't count QB pressures as a stat because Franklin's defense was pressuring and hitting BGA's quarterback all night. Also, the fact that both players played both ways means nothing because your point was about the DEFENSIVE player of the game award. Thomson's receptions on offense don't have much to do with that. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying the two BGA guys didn't play well, they both played very good games (along with just about every other defensive player on the field I might add, the score was 7-6), but Johnson deserved the award.

Oh and whoever said Dedrick was a BGA Wildcat last year was obviously uninformed, because Dedrick started at Defensive End last year for Franklin as well.

I can understand why you can't believe a player had 17 tackles. It is rare. I can also understand why you can't believe the MVP had only 3.5 tackles in the game. However, if you watch the tape of the game on ihigh.com and count the number of tackles by 33 for BGA and no. 35 for FHS you will become a believer. Then you will understand what a travesty it was that no. 33 did not receive the award.
