Sweetwater needs to win if they have any hopes of making the playoffs as a 'wild card' team. A loss here would drop them to 2-4 with Loudon coming up on the schedule.

That would make those games against McMinn, ND, & Sequoyah all "do or die" types of battles.

Meigs better win if they want any hope at the playoffs as either a 'wild card' or an automaic bid. Sequoyah has already beat Meigs so a loss to Sweetwater would be very damaging. If Meigs wins this one and beats Pigeon Forge next week then they definitely have something to play for in their final 2 games of the season following the "bye week".

I have a feeling that this has been the trend for all 5-AA good teams for the past 8 years.

Ahmen, logcabinman, this district for years has never done well in the playoffs, cannot be from scheduling, we play alot of tough teams (Alcoa, CAK, Loudon etc...)but not alot of coaching stability except for Coach Davis from Polk, so the only thing i can think of is the feeder programs, do you have any clues?

    • Playing high school sports is a privilege not a right.  The college did not have to rescind the scholarship.  Scholarship offers are pulled all the time for a number of reasons. That was 100% their choice.  A coach can keep, cut, or dismiss any player that they want to without reason anytime they want.  Is that the right way to run a program?? I don't think that it is, but these are the facts of the matter. This case has absolutely 0% chance of going in the plaintiff's favor. Futhermore, I'd imagine that these administrators and the coach are a part of some teaching or coaching organization that will cover at least 1 million dollars each in legal fees. Obviously the kid and her family feel like there were "damages" thus the lawsuit.  Unfortunately, the law is not on their side in this case.
    • Maryville will recapture the loses from last year against West, Bradley and Farragut. The Bearden game will be the tough one but I look for the wheels to come off that ride somewhere down the road because of all the crap that goes on there. I know to many parents there and some of the things I've been told and some of the post a few of them have made on facebook. They all can't be liars.
    • If Heritage moves down and Alcoa moves up the best thing for Heritage is to do what William Blount did when theystopped playing Maryville or meet certain defeat. Honestly can't see Alcoa not moving up the way the county is growing. Might be in the Mountaineers best interest to stay in 5A because none of those teams on their schedule are anything close to Alcoa.
    • I say over as well. Barney, regarding the move to 4A, will the cross-town blowhards move up as well??
