District 9A

Is Ms Kight for Moore County not back at full strength yet? I remember her as being a real good player for Moore County but she did not play much last night and not at all last time we met. Also hope the young lady who was in obvious pain with her knee is ok and ready to go as she certainly gives Moore quality time off the bench.

Kight is recovering from a knee surgery earlier in the year. She is not full strength yet but progressing every day. The other young lady, Howell, is playing with a torn ACL. She is just getting back on the floor some. I admire her for getting out there. They have both been missed and are doing what is needed to get back on the floor.

District 9A Scenarios

#1 and #2 are set with Moore County and Forrest (coin flip) assumming both win their remaining games over Community and Huntland (they should).

#3 - #5 could go any number of ways:

-If Huntland loses to Moore County and Forrest, but beats both Cascade and Boyd, then Huntland will finish 3rd.

-If Eagleville beats both Boyd and Cascade, and Huntland loses to Cascade, Moore County, and Forrest, then Eagleville will finish 3rd.

-If Cascade wins out in the district by beating Eagleville, Huntland, and Middle TN Christian, then they will finish 3rd. If this scenario happens, then most likely Huntland and Eagleville will both finish 7-7 with the tie-breaker going to Huntland because of their two wins over Eagleville. So, Huntland would be 4th and Eagleville would be 5th.

-Cascade plays the biggest role in the #3 - #5 spots because they play Huntland, Eagleville, and Middle TN Christian, and they could win or lose any number of those games. Winning two out of the three (depending on who they beat and lost to) would change the scenarios.

#6 and #7 - If Middle TN Christian beats Cascade, then they will be 6th. If not, then Community will be 6th and Middle Tennessee Christian will be 7th.

#8 - F.C. Boyd Christian

*All of these scenarios are with the assumption that Moore County and Forrest win the rest of their district games and that everyone who still has Boyd left on their schedule gets a district win in that game.

DOES DISTRICT 9 MEET DISTRICT 10 IN THE REGION? IF SO, WHAT DISTRICT WOULD THE OLD SUB-STATE BE?

9a plays 10a but 10a is not very good. Moore county will likely roll right past everyone to substate. They will likely get wayensboro or loretto in the sub-state game, if there are no upsets along the way.

First round in the books. Moore Co. wins big over Boyd. Huntlands beats Cascade by 16. Forrest pulls away from Community to win big. Eagleville comes from behind to beat MTCS in overtime in the best game of the night. Games for Monday are Moore Co. and Huntland at 6:00 with Forrest and Eagleville to following.

    • Deja vu all over again, 7 yrs apart. SMDH Does anybody talk to each other?
    • OK, well, that’s because two quarterbacks can’t start. That’s football 101. The main quarterback won the starting job, so he was on varsity, and the Seymour transfer did not win the starting job. He played some varsity. He was mainly junior varsity, and he balled out when healthy, so for the starting quarterback who’s been starting varsity since his freshman year, if you have any form of proof that he’s gotten worse, somehow, whether that means stats or whatnot, please feel free to share.
    • They’ve both gotten worse. I’ve seen enough games to know that.
    • The only two transfers that Bearden has gotten that went on to play college football were a defensive back from Karnes, who transferred here way before the new coaching staff got here, and a running back from Carter, who went on to play at Maryville College. Both players received those offers while at Bearden, and both players got a diploma from Bearden High School. Therefore, they are Bearden kids, and you can’t do anything about that.   The transfer from Seymour didn’t win the job, what do you expect two quarterbacks to start at the same time? He played great on JV when he could stay healthy, and when he came in on varsity, he did great. The quarterback position is definitely going to be in good hands when the current starting quarterback leaves, but until then, they’re just going to be battling it out like every good quarterback competition does. The current starting quarterback has his flaws, and that is in the pass game, but what he doesn’t have flaws is running and scrambling, and if you go back and watch any game, which I’m sure you didn’t watch any, we used him very often, and when we needed a deep ball, we brought in the transfer from Seymour. The starting quarterback last year will be a senior this year, and the Seymour transfer will be a junior, so the Seymour transfer is definitely going to get his spotlight. He may even win the job this year. Football isn’t about who the newspaper thinks is the best kid. The best kid in the position will win the starting job, and I trust the coaching staff more than a newspaper or article to pick my starting QB.
    • I mean, we’ve only gotten two transfers that went on to play college football, one who went to UT Martin came his second semester junior year before the new coaching staff was here, and the other one went on to play at Maryville College, in which I don’t believe he had any interest prior to transferring.
