5A Playoff Picture

Well, last year the TSSAA made Craigmont go 4 hours to Lawrenceburg for a 1st round game, so I wouldn't put it past em.

 

After looking at the map, it seems like there will be some teams that travel alot regardless of the quad they are in. If Henry is in 4, they will likely host Mitchell which is a nice 2 1/2 to 3 hour trip. If they get put in 3, looks like they may end up hosting Gallatin (unless the TSSAA ignores the rule of playing a district team in the 1st round) which would be about the same travel time. So I guess it's just up to the TSSAA on if they want to stick to the geographical boundaries to the book, or if they want to reward Henry for a very good season with a higher seed. However, getting a lower seed in quad 4 and facing a reeling Mitchell team might not be so bad as far as 1st round matchups go. But after that they would have to face a VERY strong Jackson Northside or Ridgeway team. Whoever comes out of quad 4 will definitely earn it. And in case you're wondering, if Lawrence got put in quad 4 they would likely be the 4 seed and host Hardin which is a little over an hour of travel time. If they stay in quad 3 they would likely host either Gallatin or Hendersonville 1st round which would be about 2 hours of travel time. I think it will all end up working out for the most part. I guarantee whatever happens, someone will not be happy about it. So I say arrange the quads (with regional consideration of course) that give the best matchups and make for the best football.

The way the playoffs are set up has absolutely nothing to do with the best matchups.

There is a chance that Lawrence County could win District 8AAA with an 8-2 record and be a 5 seed in quad 4. I am afraid if your looking for help it may not be from anyone from Lawrence County. The TSSAA has a bunch of things to look at and right now I think if a team is lucky enough to host a game and not be in quad 4 then they may need to be happy!!

it is possible for teams with 5 wins currently to miss the playoffs, but it is unlikely due to this weeks matchups. Maryville has to be favored against lenoir city, anderson co over clinton, boone over crockett, and melsose is the underdog too.
