There's a kid at Brentwood Academy, David Varn, who is multitalented. He's trying to be a decathlete this year. He got like 10-0 in pole vault once and almost beat Aaron Hall in the 100. He was also a kicker for the jv football team but he quit because he wanted to focus on on the decathalon.

He actually beat Andrew Bumbalough in middle school cross country a few times before he converted over to kicking.This kid's an athlete. He even played soccer once but had to quit because he kicked the ball too hard.

It's good to see more interest in the decathlon, and we'll see how this kid does when he goes up against top returning DII decathlete, Ben Ralls (BGA), who is already well into his training. If he stays healthy, I expect that Ralls will have no trouble in winning the state decathlon this coming May.
