Two 16-team brackets

Someone suggested in the Tyner-Polk topic a field with two 16-team brackets. I didn't want to take away from that game discussion so here's what it would look like in 3A:

East (current quads 1 and 2)

1-Alcoa

16-Sweetwater

8-West Greene

9-Chucky-Doak

4-Loudon

13-Elizabethton

5-Howard

12-Kingston

2-CAK

15-South Greene

7-Happy Valley

10-Gatlinburg Pittman

3-Polk County

14-Austin-East

6-Tyner

11-Sullivan North

West:

1-Camden

16-Manassas

8-Westview

9-Bledsoe County

4-Smith County

13-CPA

5-Fairview

12-East Literature

2-Milan

15-Lewis County

7-Pearl-Cohn

10-Sequatchie County

3-Goodpasture

14-Stewart County

6-Oakhaven

11-Grundy County

For several teams, travel would be brutal.

Just think how the brackets would look if the T$$AA would do football playoffs like basketball, baseball, and softball tournaments. Just three classes (A, AA, AAA). I am giving what the top half of the AA bracket would look like. Top four in each district qualifies for playoffs and going by district standings according to T$$AA.

Bracket 1

Greeneville 10-0

Johnson Co. 2-8

Happy Valley 7-2

West Greene 7-3

Claiborne Co. 7-3

Sullivan North 7-3

Elizabethtown 6-4

Chuckey-Doak 7-3

Bracket 2

Alcoa 10-0

G-P 7-3

A-E 6-4

Loudon 8-2

Fulton 6-4

CAK 9-1

Gibbs 9-1

Kingston 6-4

Bracket 3

Tyner 8-2

Meigs Co. 2-8

Sequoyah 4-6

Central 6-4

Sweetwater 4-6

Howard 8-2

Polk Co. 9-1

Red Bank 6-4

Bracket 4

Bledsoe Co. 7-3

DeKalb Co. 3-7

Livingston Ac. 5-5

Grundy Co. 6-4

Sequatchie Co. 7-3

York 4-6

Smith Co. 9-1

CCS 4-6

32 teams, only 8 with losing records. Less travel until the quarter-finals and semi-finals. How many would be in favor or against this format?

    • Did this happen? Does anyone know? Ripley has their HC job posted on the bulletin board over the weekend.
    • Coalfield definitely isn't the same team they've had the past few years. They are still the favorites to make it out of their region because of their pitching. They have 1 arm that sits low to mid 80s and 2 other arms that are mid to high 70s with good off speed stuff. If you can avoid their top 3 bats in their lineup then you have a shot to beat them. Their 4-9 hitters are average at best. Wartburg's ace was able to shut them down last week in the game Wartburg won 4-2.
    • It is the longest season. Plus, 30 games a year. No Christmas break. I would say basketball is the most time consuming.
