Worst Field House in State:Chuckey-Doak

First I am a CD alum, however CD has the absolute worst field house that I have ever seen in my lifetime. Every other county school has a new field house or one that has been renovated and or added upon. CD had to let Elizabethton dress in the gym because it didn't have a field house that met the specifications of the TSSAA(a shower). As a matter of fact you would be hard pressed to have room for 25 football players in the visitor portion of the CD field house. Has anyone been to or had to dress in this pitiful outhouse? Tell me what you think? Its an embarrassment to the County, school board, Director of Schools and Community. Something needs to be done!

It appeared that West Greene used three buses and the woods as the four walls for their locker room in Week 9. I wasn't at the Greeneville game, what did they do? But I also agree with barb, they did get a new school while the other three schools are still suffering. But barb, your Devils are in a nice newer building as well.

Now tc, they did get a brand new school...

CD got a new school because the old school was built for 400 students. There was close to 700 students that moved into the new school in 2003. There simply wasn't enough room for the students. The current field house was built for 35 players, the past 2 years CD has averaged almost 60 players at the beginning of the year. The school is almost 8 years old, how long will everyone use the "new school" excuse? Just saying.....

I dont know how it looks now but Alcoa would send their visitors into the old gym locker room. It was a tight fit just for PE class. I always felt bad for teams like maryville who would bring 90-100 football players and coaches to the game.

It has been said that when Elizabethton went ther they had no where to get in out of the cold at half time when they played there this past week and the only restrooms were porta johns

That sounds about right, considering they had to dress in the gym and that's a good distance from the football field. Opposing teams and CD players deserve better.

I can live with dressing at the school, no biggie there. The only thing that bothers me is that there is no where for opposing players and coaches to use the restroom at the field. There were two port-a-johns on the visitors side, but that will not suffice when 60 plus players, coaches, and fans are all trying to relieve themselves. Many of the players had to just walk back into the woods to take care of business.

This is very true. I wonder if any school board members even went to a game at Chuckey-Doak this year. If they did you would think they would see that something needs to be done. They should actually be embarrassed about the situation.

So what makes this year different from previous years. Last year the same facilities were used and nobody complained. So its ok for the in-county rivals to have no place to get warm or pee but gee, if someone from Carter County comes we should be ashamed???
