I thought I would throw out a topic that might provide some additional encouragement to the ballers that are playing in our favorite Division. Gonna call it a DORFY (Dads, Others, Relatives, and Friends) so we are taking nominations for this now prestigious award. Be sure to post some reasons you want to nominate some of these players because we all know that points scored is not the only factor to consider. Be sure to nominate them by their class and according the name...don't be shy to nominate anyone you may be related to or not.

Division II-A Mid/East

Seniors

Connor Maitland (FRA) Having a great mid season run

Hayden Ray (Ezell) Leads the Eagles in scoring

It looks like you have a good list, but what do I know? As LittleENS said on the other forum, I don't have the real knowledge to have an opinion. LOL

Hey I value your opinion...if your a dad, other, family, relative I know you've seen a few good playas out there. I'm not expert but I have an opinion and last I checked it is still a free country out there.

Juniors John Ross Glover and EJ Miller for Univ. School of Jackson (USJ)

Glover is going to be a big time player by the time it's all said and done. He will be playing Major D1 ball if he stays healthy. USJ has him in the post, but he'll most likely be a 2 or 3 in college. The kid can do it all. He has handles, can shoot, post up, drive.... he can do it all. He's one of the most all around players in all of rural West TN. He's definately fun to watch play.

I know you know this but the other guys posting may not. John Ross Glover is the Juinor and EJ Miller is a Senior this year. Word is several of the Regional High Mid-Majors Universities are being seen at the USJ games. Hope the best for USJ.

Great post! i'd like to add my 2 cents. Starting from the bottom up if I may:

Freshmen

Totally agree with Rob Marberry, FRA. Monster D with a sweet shot @ 15ft. Needs to be more aggressive going to the rack. Higher Bball IQ than most seniors. Really gave Big Ben (terrific young man) fits at MJCA. My pick for best freshman, period.

C. Kennedy, DCA, strong, strong shooter.

Sophomores

Kessler Bell, again, agree on that one too. Big point average, auto-mode, but needs stickier hands down low, imho.

Austin Gee, Ezell, Yes VERY exciting indeed. Plays big in big games. Can't wait to see him start draining 3pointers on a more regular basis but he's got time to work on that.

Chance Boudin, fra, long reach and goes hard in the paint. Fluid.

Juniors

Nilan Hodge, usn,. He's a Machine.

Zack Jenkins, yo. Ezell. If his feet get set outside, my moneys on him!

Kyle Kennedy, DCA, is quick and intuitive.

Bud Cannon, fra. Crazy Hops and high IQ for the game. Scores big in big games.

Cham Cham, webb. Just a great athlete and fun to watch.

Ben Wankel, MJCA, Man he's big! Seems very fundamental. Makes free throws as good as any big guy out there. Gets a little frustrated and it shows at times but gets his job done.

Seniors

MIles davis, webb. Big scorer and aside from Cham Cham really about all they have from a points perspective. He fights to last second of the game.

Connor Flippin Maitland, He really wants to win. Will mix it up with anyone at any time. Goes very hard in the paint.

Trey Brassfield, fra. Defensive stud who scores some too.

TJ Roberts, MJCA. I Got to watch him hit his 1000th point!!

Boy Howdy that is a good post!!! Love the Color on the commentary!!! Ya paint a pretty picture. And thanks for the FRA "emphasis" assuming you're a fan. Apologize for few recommendations there but will soon have a better picture after the FRA vs Ezell game on Feb 10th.

    • Same with Eisfelder from Providence not even getting a look in DII 1A.   But to me the biggest head scratcher is Collins from Lookout Valley. He wasn't even voted the best pitcher or player on his own team, a team that lost like 20 baseball games. Mind blowing.
    • Whispers abound suggesting that Robbie Atwood has been observed surreptitiously shadowing the erstwhile football coach on numerous occasions. Does such conduct align with the standards of acceptability?
    • Is it conceivable that BJ West will maintain his ardor if it necessitates forgoing attendance at his progeny's culminating year of scholastic endeavors? Such a scenario appears implausible upon closer scrutiny.
    • Wartburg heading to state for the first time in school history. Braylen Melton (sophomore) threw a 1 hitter today against North Greene.
    • I havent kept up with Keeton since he went to Oakland, so hearing he is in a BOE role now, that may trump him coming back.  Rennard on the other hand. That dude is a Man Builder! And he was cut loose this spring from Scotts Hill. Heard him in a interview a few months back and he inspired me. He needs to be back home in the Purple & Gold, regardless of if he is HC or not or even if he doesnt coach at all, his presences will improve the environment. But Again, I have no clue if he would even be interested.
