No. Requiring kids to play a sport means that you have more kids on the team which means that you have to coach 70 or 100 kids with a wider range of abilities rather than a smaller group of "real" athletes. Requiring kids to play does not make the team better. In fact, it is a hindrance in my opinion. :)
