Worth is sponsering a tournament on the first weekend in April in Manchester. Elite teams from southeastern states have been invited and there should be a list of definate teams within a week or two. There should be a few things on the Worth website about the tournament before long. I hear that teams from TN, AL, KY, MS, AR, NC have all been contacted. Looks like it is going to be very exciting.

Sounds like a great tournament. I checked into having out of town teams in my tournament last year and I was informed by the TSSAA that you could only have two teams out of state without going through the National Federation. You must complete a long financial report and several forms before the tournament begins. You must also pay either the TSSAA or the National Federation $250.00 for each out of state school that does not border your state. It would make for a interesting tournament, but it is also a lot of extra expense and paper work.

From what I gather their will be 16 teams. Hear are some teams that are possibilities to play, TN: Coffee County, Goodpasture, Ezell Harding, Beech, Soddy Daisy, and GPS. AL: Hoover, Clay Chalkville, Bob Jones, Decatur, Pisgah. KY: Owensboro Catholic. MS: New Hope. AR: North Little Rock. Worth is lining up some fun things for the teams to do when not playing also.

My daughter plays for Owensboro(KY) Catholic and I was just wondering which Tennessee teams in this tournament will be the strongest. As in which team(s) will be the ones to "watch out for".

I would "watch out for" all the Tennessee teams listed,

all will be competitive and will hold their own with any;

also Pisgah, AL has probably the top pitcher in the

country, she has already committed to Auburn, and will

probably singlehandedly turn that program around.

Stay tuned to Coffee County's web site for future information about this tournament. We should have things finalized soon with complete information on our web site. Good luck to all of the invitees. It should be one of, if not the, best tournaments in a long time. It should have very large crowds with tons of interest from fans of the game whose teams are not even in the tournament. I know I wouldn't miss one like this if my team wasn't in. You can't help but think the atmosphere will be like a Tennessee vs Alabama game.

Softball needed a jolt to get more attention and I believe this is a very good start. I hope this is a sign of things to come for this game. As they say in the research and development world, "Think Outside the Box!" Coach Breeden and Worth certainly have.
