Yes, one chess player and a mascot are heading your way. Just kidding, how did this page go from Cobi's intention to go to Georgia to transfers coming to Riverdale? Shouldn't happen on this page. OBTW

The chess player decided to go to Oakland:)

No comment but it does belong on this thread. Time will tell/

Yes Blackman has had their fair share. Blackman seems to get senior transfers that last 1 year. Riverdale gets Freshman transfers that last 4 years each which means in 4 years they have almost a full team of transfers. I don't know where all these players come from. I don't keep up with it that much. Just know every year they have a new great player. Back to Barbee, She is a great player and I believe will be a great player at Georgia. Congrats to her. Georgia definitely got a good one.

So are you saying Blackman can only recruit transfers with 1 yr left and Riverdale gets Freshman who can play 4 yrs????? LOL You're saying they beat you at recruiting also!!!! That running back of yours sure would have been nice to have in Columbia!! He is a good one!!!! And you have a heck of a Football coach!!! What he did at Smyrna was great. I can't believe you guys got him to up and leave MTCS just like that!!!! Can you imagine if he had gone to Riverdale, MBA, or Brentwood Academy!!!!!! Some people would have questioned that....believe it or not!!! :flower:

From around Murfreesboro? That will just get things stirred up more :roflol: Some of the players and parents need to remember only 160 minutes are available each game.

Now we are getting into other subjects that may be out of subject. Before we get too far away from Barbee, another Riverdale player gave their intention to play College, a 5'8" post player Junior who according to the paper had opportunities at MTSU and North Carolina and picked staying home and MTSU. A good player, she will try to hone her guard skills according to the paper.

Now about those 160 minutes, high school play around the Boro is certainly played with more than 5 players with all of the schools. College type players, college type game, with high intensity and a lot of speed. That type game needs a bench and a coach to manage it. All schools have that prescription and when the new school opens next year, the coach will be pivotable. One hundred 60 minutes takes 7-8 players in that scheme of things.

And thirdly, the issue about other transfers at schools. Lest you forget, Shelbyville has has taken that approach for some time. Evidently Franklin County will take that approach as its in the family and Blackman and Riverdale is now taking the same approach. Oakland has a College Prepatory Course of Study which makes it easier to transfer if you qualify, no matter if all of the other schools acodemically have a high ranking, The ACTS are very high at all schools. Oakland just has some specialized courses.

So, whether you like it or not and some fans dont, Rutherford is becoming Memphis Lite. Shelby County changed curriculum for another reason and have all types of incentives and reasons to change schools, for a price. Students have to perform academically. The level of schools and study in Rutherford is not the same but the precedents taken all over the State are being taken all over the State and for many reasons and parents and students are taking advantage of it. The situations generally occur between Middle School and High School. What seems to be different now is loosening of rules in 10th and 11th grade. Social reasons to stay in a school have broken down and AAU likely has some bearing on it. Athletes spend so much of their yearly time in their sport that friends their are more important than the other friends they have at their school and that is not just Basketball but just about every sport. Travel ball has made a big impact on athletics. There has to be something profound tht can be learned about that but schools and fans can look for that happening more and more the way the rules are now. Wonder if it has anything to do with mega-sized schools without expanded programs of some type???????

here is an interesting item to ponder, a young lady who played at OHS last season thru the IB Program and lives within a mile of Smyrna High, decided to transfer to Smyrna and is not being allowed to play because her family did not make a physical address change. Yet Davenport played at Siegel last season transfers to RHS because her dad bought a house in the RHS zone and plays this season with NO PENALTY! :?
