I am sure these blackmun posters think Bradley Central is another tasty Quad 2 cupcake just like Oak Ridge was for Riverdale last year.

come on starRaider...you know assumptions will get you into trouble...

we know bradley is a VERY good team...and we need to play well to beat them...but i think we will play well...and we will beat them...!

If you want to get better and tougher, you have to play better and tougher teams. Sometimes that doesn't turn out like you want (see, Baylor game). Regardless, you have the chance to become better and tougher. (I suspect Signal Mountain is better positioned to compete in their own class having lined up against Blackman). How will the Bradley/Blackman match turn out? One will come out with a win and more character; the other will not have the win, but will still have the opportunity to gain character.

Yeah that's good and fine and all but I bet niether coach tells his kids that " just go out there and remember even if we lose we still have character" more like " let the other team be the ones saying we lost with character", play the game to win.

True. But you have to be able to make that point after, should the loss come. Growth comes not just from success, but also from coping productively with failure. Beforehand, you say, "We can win this. This is what we must do." Afterwards, you either get to say, "Good job! You see what you are able to do now." Or, "We fell short of our goal. Here is what we learned, here is what we know we need to improve."

Sorry Staraider, check not cashing. This week we have practiced and practiced hard. We will play to win the game. We will play till the echo of the whistle. Our goals are still in front of us and one of them is to beat Bradley Central. We will take no one lightly, will we give no quarter. You will be welcomed to the Inferno, but not treated well. Good luck to both teams and remember......

We are Blackman! Take no one lightly, give no quarter.

Ashley, would love to get your Dad on my show tonight to discuss upcoming Smyrna game. If you still have me cell number, give me a shout. Lost yours with new phone. Email is still shoelessjoe14@AOL.com. The number to our station is 931-393-3100. If he'd rather for me to call him on air that works also. Just give me a shout.

Before the game I expect everyone to shake hands with respect.

During the game I expect both teams to play hard, clean and to the best of their ability.

Afterwards the same as before: shake hands eyeball to eyeball with respect for the efforts no matter the outcome.

That is the ideal all should strive for.

And if all do that it will make for a great game. Bradley will give their best effort. I expect nothing less from Blackman.

Gooooooooooo Bearsssssssssssssssssssssss.

Yeehaw! Tune in this week when Sherrif Woody Doody leads his 9-3 Riverdale Warriors against yet another carb filled gang of wiley misfits known as the 8-4 Oak Ridge Wildats. It oughta another barn burner. Maybe this week a team with a pulse will show up and give the fans their 8 dollars worth. :popcorneater:

Riverdale is no cupcake. They could win it all. Oak Ridge is a cupcake this year and Riverdale knows it. Riverdale 49 Oak Ridge 7 and thats being nice to Oak Ridge. Riverdale has had nothing but cupcakes in their quad. They have no contest until Maryville. Thats why they already started a Maryville/Riverdale thread cause their bored talking about these easy teams they are playing.

riverdale took the day off today...to cold and windy to risk the majority of the team getting sick before friday...game is in the bag so coach A told the boys to go home...get some hot coco and cuddle up and watch sponge bob or play some xbox...

riverdale 63 oak ridge 28

Your right that Bradley Central squad had er body shakin in er boots.

    • They’ve both gotten worse. I’ve seen enough games to know that.
    • The only two transfers that Bearden has gotten that went on to play college football were a defensive back from Karnes, who transferred here way before the new coaching staff got here, and a running back from Carter, who went on to play at Maryville College. Both players received those offers while at Bearden, and both players got a diploma from Bearden High School. Therefore, they are Bearden kids, and you can’t do anything about that.   The transfer from Seymour didn’t win the job, what do you expect two quarterbacks to start at the same time? He played great on JV when he could stay healthy, and when he came in on varsity, he did great. The quarterback position is definitely going to be in good hands when the current starting quarterback leaves, but until then, they’re just going to be battling it out like every good quarterback competition does. The current starting quarterback has his flaws, and that is in the pass game, but what he doesn’t have flaws is running and scrambling, and if you go back and watch any game, which I’m sure you didn’t watch any, we used him very often, and when we needed a deep ball, we brought in the transfer from Seymour. The starting quarterback last year will be a senior this year, and the Seymour transfer will be a junior, so the Seymour transfer is definitely going to get his spotlight. He may even win the job this year. Football isn’t about who the newspaper thinks is the best kid. The best kid in the position will win the starting job, and I trust the coaching staff more than a newspaper or article to pick my starting QB.
    • I mean, we’ve only gotten two transfers that went on to play college football, one who went to UT Martin came his second semester junior year before the new coaching staff was here, and the other one went on to play at Maryville College, in which I don’t believe he had any interest prior to transferring.
    • An FYI: To see how an opponent has done against another opponent since 2001- go to the game by clicking on one of the teams. Click the G beside the game. For example, Milan: The info will show you the previous matchups and other info.
    • All these college signees went yo other schools for 3 years, were getting college offers then transferred to Bearden. It’s not like this staff did much to develop them.    The BBall coaches son and the Seymour transfer were some of the most talented QBs in the region, and you guys developed them into QBs who might complete one pass a game.
