We were picked to lose to Camden & McKenzie and won, nothing the matter against being the underdog against the puppies south of Martin. I am sure that this is the game Milan has been waiting for since last year. Westview has a new look since the first of the season and I am sure they will play ball just the same as Milan will against a worthy opponent. I feel this will be the first real test of how Milan will play against a tough district foe. Look at the strength of schedule that both teams have played, stats don't lie. This is High School football and it all plays out on the field. My pick is Westview by a fieldgoal just like last year!

Milan is clicking on all cylinders right now! The Dawgs have a bad taste in their mouth from last year! Milan will take the charge out of the chargers in this one! Milan 35-14!

Martin has a different look but still has players managing to give the ball to the other team for touchdowns. This team is one dimensional. Milan has seen WV play so they will stack the line. I would expect Coady to use #8 more at QB to try to get speed to the outside or off tackle. Milan will be ready for that. Milan will force WV to throw and our QB will fold under the pressure unless he finds some confidence. I hate to state the facts if WV throws the ball they will probable spot Milan 6. If WV wins it will be because of the defence. I’ll be happy if WV wins but I say Milan by 21.

Hey swingjuice, good to put a face with the name. Anybody playing milan at home will be a challenge. Walking into the dogpound and hearing the Milan faithful and all the tradition that johnie hale stadium has been home to is always tough on any team. I wish that Westview had a stadium to have a tradition in. The only tradition we have is getting on a bus and going to skyhawk stadium and getting dressed in what I think is a visitors dressing room that says nothing about westview football. Thanks UTM........ Thanks to our weakley county school board to, for voting down a field for the kids a few years ago, and paying for land that Martin donated to UT. Now that I got that off my chest, may all the kids be safe friday night and let it be a slugfest. May the best team win.

Good luck to Westview, as if they need it!!! It's seems when these two teams play, you can count

on a good Friday night of tough football.

This could be a close game early, but Milan is always good year in and year out and especially at home. Westview has played 3 good teams this year---they are 2 and 1 (McKenzie, Camden and Obion County). They barely beat a below average team in Ripley 2 weeks ago and got beat by a very average 1A team in Dresden in Week 0. Depends on which team shows up this Friday night. These two teams generally play each other fairly close, so I don't expect much different. To sum it up, of those 5 games--the two worst teams gave them fits---who knows, maybe a good example of a team that plays up to competition and down to competition.

    • Deja vu all over again, 7 yrs apart. SMDH Does anybody talk to each other?
    • OK, well, that’s because two quarterbacks can’t start. That’s football 101. The main quarterback won the starting job, so he was on varsity, and the Seymour transfer did not win the starting job. He played some varsity. He was mainly junior varsity, and he balled out when healthy, so for the starting quarterback who’s been starting varsity since his freshman year, if you have any form of proof that he’s gotten worse, somehow, whether that means stats or whatnot, please feel free to share.
    • They’ve both gotten worse. I’ve seen enough games to know that.
    • The only two transfers that Bearden has gotten that went on to play college football were a defensive back from Karnes, who transferred here way before the new coaching staff got here, and a running back from Carter, who went on to play at Maryville College. Both players received those offers while at Bearden, and both players got a diploma from Bearden High School. Therefore, they are Bearden kids, and you can’t do anything about that.   The transfer from Seymour didn’t win the job, what do you expect two quarterbacks to start at the same time? He played great on JV when he could stay healthy, and when he came in on varsity, he did great. The quarterback position is definitely going to be in good hands when the current starting quarterback leaves, but until then, they’re just going to be battling it out like every good quarterback competition does. The current starting quarterback has his flaws, and that is in the pass game, but what he doesn’t have flaws is running and scrambling, and if you go back and watch any game, which I’m sure you didn’t watch any, we used him very often, and when we needed a deep ball, we brought in the transfer from Seymour. The starting quarterback last year will be a senior this year, and the Seymour transfer will be a junior, so the Seymour transfer is definitely going to get his spotlight. He may even win the job this year. Football isn’t about who the newspaper thinks is the best kid. The best kid in the position will win the starting job, and I trust the coaching staff more than a newspaper or article to pick my starting QB.
    • I mean, we’ve only gotten two transfers that went on to play college football, one who went to UT Martin came his second semester junior year before the new coaching staff was here, and the other one went on to play at Maryville College, in which I don’t believe he had any interest prior to transferring.
